My DD (19mo) has susspected Chicken Pox; I'm pregnant (18 weeks) and have had CPox before. We were planning to visit a friend and her DD (6 weeks) tomorrow, obviously I won't be taking DD with me.

Is it correct that I'm probably immune and therefore I needent worry about DC2?
Given that I'm probably immune, is it OK for me to go visiting? I'm not sure if I could be a carrier.

Theres been dozens of chicken pox threads on MN over the years. Do a search for advice/tips.

My DS got chicken pox when I was 20 weeks. I spoke to a doctor (my DH!) who said I'd be immune as I had them as a child, and my unborn child would be ok too.

Also, I don't think you can 'carry' them, as far as I know, it would need to be direct contact with your child to put anyone at risk of catching them.

Hope your DD heals up soon, it's not nice when they're sick.

Thanks needles

In the mean time I spoke to my DM who told be that when I had probable CPox at under 1yr symptoms not typical, so it might not have been. That's left room for worry so I'll check what my GP thinks.

Just tried calling and got the Out-of-ours service Hmm at half three?

Update: it's not Chicken Pox anyway but post-viral rash. So all worries off - it means DD is recovering from a virus we'd not even know she'd had.

As it happens the GP said that should I come into contact with Chicken Pox while pregnant they'd want to see me even if I was sure I'd had chicken pox before.
