DS is 6m and has started weaning - he has a bit of puree and a bit of finger foods. Isn't eating a lot at the min by any means.
The ting is that i'm having trouble getting him to drink his milk properly. He used to drink 7oz easy and now i'm lucky if I can get 4/5 in him without a bit of a battle. He's not eating enough food (i don't think) to compensate for less milk at every feed.

Anyway, since 4m he has been waking in the night for a feed and going straight back down. Usually between 3 and 5.30am.
Last night he woke at 10pm and had 5oz and went straight back down but woke again at 3.30 for another 5oz.
Am I on a downward spiral with this - him waking numerous times a night as he's not getting enough in the day??? If so, what can I do about it?

Any advice appreciated.

I wonder if this is coinciding with becoming more active during the day. He may be too busy playing to want to feed and is making up for it at night. I doubt this is a "downwards spiral" though, perhaps more like a temporary phase? If you can grit your teeth and ride it out, it may settle down.

Unfortunately waking twice a night at 6 months is not unusual...

sounds like DS at 6 mo when we started weaning. he went through a period of waking between 10-11 for a feed and again between 3-4am i couldn't see any end to it but it did eventually. he is almost 9 months now and sleeps through (most nights).

6 months is still very little I think if they need milk they need milk its frustrating when its during the night but sometimes just the way it is.

I think it's just that every time he seems to settle a bit and I think I've got to grips with things he changes it up again. We've had an awful day - not wanting his milk and not wanting to nap either.

I think that's how it goes from 6mo to 1 yr, as they are growing and developing so fast, changing from a helpless baby to a toddler.

Sorry for your bad day, Kafri. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

When I started weaning dd (now 9 months) she reduced her feeds right down during the day and guzzled at night. Think she was too interested in doing things during the day. Things gradually sorted themselves out. She still wakes and feeds at night (never slept through, never will?!?) but her pattern is as it was before weaning now, and she drinks milk in the day properly as well. Hopefully things will settle for you too
