You're not eligible if you have studied higher education before even if you didn't finish the course

I did a level 1 course with the OU 11 years ago that I paid for myself. Will this mean I am not eligible for funding to go to university now?

I did 3 OU courses and am now really worried! I still haven't heard back from student finance :/

OP I think this is only if you have accessed student finance before. As far as I know you can claim up to 4 years of finance.

I started a course and had 1 year of student finance, then dropped out. I was then able to get student finance for another 3 year course as it wasn't exceeding the 4 years.

If you funded your previous course then it shouldn't affect claiming from student loans this time.

Thanks rumour I couldn't find any information on the student finance website

I have applied, just waiting to hear back from them. How long does it usually take?

Oh crap! Sad Good job I read this thread. I have some investigation to do...

therumoursaretrue · 19/06/2013 11:48

From what I remember it can take quite a while. Usually closer to the start of term. My last application wasn't processed until I had been back at uni a few weeks so I had no money at the start of the year which was a nightmare! However that was a one off really.

I think if you give them a call they should be able to tell you what stage your application for finance is at though.

FrenchRuby · 20/06/2013 10:03

I phoned and they said its still being processed. My brother in law who applied for his student finance a month after I did got his letter, saying what and when he would be receiving, back yesterday. I'm just worried its going to mess up or not get sorted.
