Anything quirky / unique? I want to get him something from his new son but not feeling any inspiration.

I had our first son the same age as yours for my DH's first Father's Day. Struggled for ideas but in the end got him an engraved silver pen "To Daddy from your xxx" type thing (think it was from a dept. store, about £30, you'd find one no priblem in amazon/ebay etc.) put baby in an 'I love my Daddy' babygro, and took a pic which was put in a frame for his desk (babygro also worn on the day).

Photo books are a nice idea but mate for when baby is a bit older and the pictures offer more variety!

oh i love the baby grow idea... or maybe he could hold a little sign saying i love daddy and i could take a pic. Brilliant.

I got dh a beaded bracelet from ds, which has ds's name and date of birth on it. It was only a fiver, including postage and packing.

Are you on Facebook? If so, search for sparkle personalised accessories. The woman was very quick, I got it within 2 days of ordering. If not, I'll try and dig out her email for you. I can also email you a pic of my bracelet if you wanted to see the finished article Grin . PM me if so......

You can do credit card sized photo books on Snapfish/Photobox. My partner loved his as he kept it in his wallet and used it to show people who asked about our daughter. If you have a printer that prints on photo paper this site is fab. Last year I did a heart shape made from lots of 'DD loves Daddy' and put it in a cheap frame from IKEA.

im getting my oh a mug with a picture of our 5 month old grinning his head off printed on (his dad loves tea n has his own mug at home, work and even his parents) don't no if something like that would be appropriate for you! also a baby gro that says my dad is tea-riffic to wear on the day

I made sure I had DD an I Heart Daddy tshirt to wear on the day itself. He got a lie in, cooked.breakfast, and we all went swimming (his favourite thing to do with dd). Cant remember what his gift was but have fond memories.of the day.

He is getting a hoodie this year Grin

Went to a paint and glaze place where I got Dd's handprint on a mug

Ellypoo · 11/06/2013 20:54

I have taken DD (9 weeks) to a pottery painting place and had her footprint, with a message painted onto a mug - DH will love it for work! Hand wouldn't have worked (tried it in his card = huge mess everywhere!!!) because hand tends to fold up when they are young, but feet are a good alternative!!!

ouryve · 11/06/2013 20:57

DS1 "bought" DH a nice photo frame for his desk at work.

sharond101 · 11/06/2013 21:55

Poundland had books called "WHy I love my Daddy."

inmyheadimthequeen · 11/06/2013 22:08

I did the hand and footprint thing on a plate, with writing (mine, obv) around the edge that said 'from your son, name and date'. We still have it on display now. Re what Ellypoo said, it worked fine with hand and foot because DS was sound asleep Smile

I have lovely tiles (framed) with dcs footprints, full names and dobs hanging in my living room - love them!!

We also have fathers day plate, bowl and mug with tiny footprints. Something to treasure forever.

I once saw a man walking along with a t-shirt with hand painted lettering saying Fathers Day,a date, and 3 sets of different sized child hand prints in different colours positioned like they were hugging him. What was really sweet was it looked like the t had been through the wash a few times and the date was a few years back. Smile I guess something personal s best at that age.

My Daddy is My Hero storybook www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/dawn+richards/jane+massey/daddy+is+my+hero/9536659/

Someone bought this for my DH. He loves it even though DD is a bit young.

Fuzzymum1 · 13/06/2013 19:24

A few years ago I made a t-shirt for DH with an individual picture of each of the kids with DS1 holding a D DS2 holding an A and DS3 holding the D and put the three together side by side - DH still wears it several years later. Maybe you could do something similar with letters on a bodysuit or similar - I used t-shirt transfer paper to make the t-shirt and it was really easy to do. Another option would be to take the three pictures and then put them in something like this frame (the other way round) www.wilko.com/photo-frames/wilko-photo-frame-chunky-silver-6inx4in-x-3/invt/0326458?VBMST=frame
