The risk is teeny, bet honey isnt even on the prohibited list where you are.

Really, thanks, I'm in tears, there always seems something going wrong HmmHmm

They will be fine. The risk is minuscule.

I did the same thing, DS is fine, try not to worry Smile

VinegarDrinker · 09/06/2013 18:56

Calm down. The risk is tiny.

The risk with honey is infant botulism, which is incredibly rare, and easily treatable. Even if you have the worst luck in the world, you don't need to be panicking. If your baby has trouble feeding, swallowing, get's constipated, or seems incapable of making a facial expression, then get them checked out. I honestly think you're worrying over nothing though, go easy on yourself.

Aren't babies allowed honey? Why on earth not? What evidence of risk is there?

PlateSpinningAtAllTimes · 09/06/2013 19:03

didn't people used to put honey on dummies and bottles for newborns? Obviously not a great idea now we know about the risks, but I think most of them must have survived. Really don't panic, I accidentally gave 6mo DD yoghurt with honey in the other day. She appears fine...

Bunbaker · 09/06/2013 19:18

purple It is because of the (tiny) risk of botulism.
Explained here

I give DS honey on a spoon when he has a sore throat he's fine.

Your prob in more danger putting her in the car tbh

EuroShaggleton · 09/06/2013 20:38

That link mentions 11 cases in the UK over 30 years. I suspect you will be fine!
