Hi everyone,

My LO is 5mths old and is formula fed. For the past few days he has not taken as much milk as usual. He normally takes approx 6 to 8 oz at each feed and up to 9oz in his last feed before bed which is usually around 6.30pm. I feed him every 3 hrs roughly during the day. He is def teething as he sucks his hand a lot but is happy in himself. Cannot see any teeth though! I checked his temperature which was fine and he is pooing and peeing ok also but he just seems to be disinterested in his food. He will still take the bottle but maybe only up to 3 or 4 oz at any one time? Should I be worried or is this quite normal? He is a good feeder usually which is why I was surprised when he didn't seem to be draining his bottles anymore!

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

If he's teething have you tried him with a dose of ibruprofen? Its much better with dental pain than paracetamol.

You could try a teething gel, like dentinox, just before offering the bottle. You could also try giving him a cool, clean wet flannel to chew on in between feeds.

If he's still not taking his usual amount by Monday I'd ask the GP to check his ears, throat and tummy.

He has taken a bit more now, just seems slower taking it. Haven't tried any pain relief yet as he doesn't seem unhappy?
