Do you wash your baby's hands before meals?

Baby is 11 months; 'wash' here means with soap and warm water. Just wondering what the norm is!

No, too lazy! Sometimes gets a quick wipe over with a baby wipe though.

Alanna1 · 06/06/2013 19:36

Once she was crawling, yes.

ChateauMargot · 06/06/2013 19:46

Ok, that's one-all! Any others?..

we try to. we've done it 3 times in the last week. Blush

TumbiGirl · 06/06/2013 23:59

No - not unless they look obviously dirty or have been playing in the mud. DC are 3.5yrs and 10mths. (Insert lazy mummy emoticon.)

Leviticus · 07/06/2013 00:13

No. Sometimes after he's eaten I remember he's been digging in the garden Blush. A peck of muck and all that.

KalevalaForMePlease · 07/06/2013 04:43

Feel bad about this because I never remember! I plonk her in the high chair, she starts stuffing her face and it's only then that I think, shit, I forgot to wash her hands! Blush

I wipe hands with a flannel before meals - though it crosses my mind that it isn't the best way of cleaning them...

whyno · 07/06/2013 05:34

Try to. Keep a pack of wipes on his highchair so that I have to physically move them before feeding him. Still occasionally forget!

MrsHoarder · 07/06/2013 05:41

He has his hands rinsed when coming in from the garden, so if we're in the garden before the meal then yes.

WaitingForMe · 07/06/2013 05:55

I've never thought to do this Shock

Meh, he seems fine.

ChateauMargot · 07/06/2013 09:13

Oh, thank goodness. My mum was visiting last week and as I plonked DD in her high hair for lunch, Mum asked if I wasn't going to wash her hands first, as we'd been to the park earlier that morning. Felt a very slummy mummy knowing I'd never bothered!

Figure we'll start when she's a bit older and can stand at the sink...

I never thought to do it until DS started nursery, and they do it before every meal. I felt bad Blush. I almost never remember to do it though.

Damnautocorrect · 07/06/2013 09:22

I did from crawling, partly as he just seemed to keep getting colds

forevergreek · 07/06/2013 09:24

We do, probably mainly as they probably are grubby and it's stuck. We spend most days outside rain or shine though so they have usually been playing with worms and bugs, in sand, with dog slobbers sticks, general dirt etc or if home have just finished playing with play dough so blue or similar

Misty9 · 07/06/2013 22:11

Nearly always forget...

Haggisfish · 07/06/2013 22:16

Healthy immune challenge! We forget more often than we remember here.
