Feel so ill - have 5 week old and need advice

I have been feeling rotten since Monday morning - fever, chills, night sweats, sore throat and headache. I went to docs this morning and was diagnosed with a UTI nd given antibiotics. I actually think I may ave been misdiagnosed as I'm now coughing up hard flem and my chest is wheezy

I'm breastfeeding and its pretty relentless, though going so well. Unfortunately I've not really been able to express, and nw the thought of tonight is making me want to cry. I really didnt want to give formula yet but the temptation to hand baby to DH and go into a lovely deep sleep is so strong.

Will missing one feed really damage my supply? Will formula make DS gassy? I have both DS and my 4 yo Dd tomorrow and don't know how I'll cope

I was horrendously poorly when DD was very little. I asked for advice on here and people suggested DH bringing DD to me and to lay down feeding. I did try it and it was ok but DH did do the formula thing a few times. Hope you feel better soon.

Poor you. If you feel that poorly missing one feed will not be the end of the world. Go to bed and let DH deal with all of the night wakings. Feed Lo if you can manage it and go back to the doctors in the morning. Is there someone who can have dc1 for a bit tomorrow?

LittlePickleHead · 05/06/2013 18:53

No, no one to have DD all day, I might be able to get my neighbour to have her for a couple of hours if I get desperate. I think I'd be too worried if I missed all the night feelings, but if DH could feed him then get him down in theory I should get a long stretch from early evening til 2am ish. Although I might be exploding by that point - don't really want mastitis to add to the mix!
Lizzywig - did you notice any effect on supply?

Sorry to hear that you feel so ill. Have the antibiotics not made any difference yet?

LittlePickleHead · 06/06/2013 08:54

Hi, the meds hadn't kicked in last night, had a temp of 39.3 and just got through it by dozing and feeding, with DH taking DS and settling his in between. Didn't end up giving formula and DH has taken the day off to help me today. Temp is down this morning so fingers crossed I'm through the worst of it.
