Toddler escaping car seat straps

Hi,

20mo DT2 has figured out how to get her arms free of the car seat straps. They are definitley tight enough - won't go any tighter but she contorts herself and either gets her arms out or stuck half way.

We are being very firm that it's an absolute no no but its not always practicable to stop straight away and get her back in.

I've seen conflicting advice on chest straps - does anyone know for sure if these are actually legal or affect the safety of the seat? We're driving to the south of France soon and can's be stopping on the Paeage every two minutes to get her back in!

I wouldn't add any after-market things to a car seat.

Can you afford to get a Kiddy one before you go? Thats what we had to do for our escapee...

What's that Nigel - a brand?

Don't worry - found them - looks like the (expensive when we'll have to buy two!) Answer. Thanks!

We use a Houdini thing, has been great and I figure it's safer to use that than have dd not strapped in properly.

I've (just this week!) bought a 5point plus and so far so good! Does make it slightly tricky getting DD in and out though. 5pointplus.com/

Hi,
we had a 7 month old escapee! we also bought a kiddy, DS now 3 1/2 and it has been great. We only bought one and moved it between cars, they are really quick and easy to move

YoniBottsBumgina · 01/06/2013 20:51

I think the 5 point plus is best. It doesn't affect the straps and is approved by most of the brands. The chest clips aren't great, 5 point plus much cheaper than 2x new seats!

She'll be sucking her tummy in and getting her arms out through this gap. The 5 point plus just blocks the gap so she can't do that.

Hi, I had the same problem with my child! I looked online to see if there was any way to stop it and I found this car seat attachment on Amazon called Houdinistop. It worked perfectly
