Is there such a thing? Please tell me there is and it doesn't last long! DS is 10 1/2 months and has never been a brilliant sleeper but over the last few weeks we were finally making headway with getting him sorted, he was having a 1-1.5 hour nap morning and afternoon and finally sleeping in his own room from 7-5:30ish with us only getting up to him 2 or 3 times a night to resettle. But the last few days its all gone wrong again!
He's waking up crying during the night every 30 minutes or so and taking much longer to settle, and waking up for the day around 4 a-bloody-m! Last night was horrific, he didn't go to sleep till about 10pm, then woke again at 11 and was up till gone 3 crying hysterically no matter what I did. He then slept from 3 till 5 when he woke crying again and in desperation I put him in bed with me where he slept another 2 hours, but then I didn't dare go to sleep with him in the bed so got zero sleep.
Till now his naps have still been fairly consistent but this morning it took me an hour to get him to go to sleep despite him being obviously shattered and he then woke up after only 20 minutes and is currently playing with his toys while yawning his head off! Every time I do something he associates with sleep (dummy, teddy, blanket, lie him down) he just starts screaming again.
I know he's not teething, he's already got 8 teeth and follows the same behaviour every time. He's not ill and he's eating well, so I've no obvious explanation for why he's suddenly so sleep averse.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received as I'm going back to work the week after next and can't manage on a couple of hours sleep a night much longer!
