2 year olds bad cough

My 2 year old DC got diagnosed with childhood asthma last Mon, after having an awful cough pretty much from when he was a baby. The Dr. has given him an inhaler, but I?m struggling to get him to take it. I know its only been a week, but the cough is so awful we originally thought he had croup & it waking him up at night cause he is almost choking with it. Any ideas on how to get him to take it? & try to make something fun out of it? I don?t think our flat helps either because it is really bad for dampness and condensation, but the council are useless and won?t help!

Now he has been diagnosed I'm sure they will have to take some action.

Re taking it how about a chocolate button every time he does?

Thank you I hope so too. We are in the process of potty training at the moment, so the chocolate has already been a bit of a bribe! But thanks for the advise

Has he been given a spacer? Perhaps play with it have him use it in teddies and key him put the mask end over your face.

I used to have to pin my dd to do it but a mixture of bribery with buttons or Cheerios or raisins and just letting her play with it helped.

If he finds the prospect of the mask over his face the scary part, you can get spacers with a mouth piece so he can just put his mouth round it and breath that way.

Yes he has, at first he took an interest in trying to blow into it (I know they need to breath it in though lol) but now he screams and runs away when I try :( I think I will make the review apt with the dr. soon to see if we can get the one with the mouth piece Wheresmycaffeinedrip.

I got mine from boots but dr may provide u another one.

Please don't feel bad though if it does end up in a pinning down episode, it's horrible I know but they just don't understand they need it. And actually the crying means he is taking it right in.

But they do get it after a while.
