4 month old terrible cough after feeds

I'm posting this for a friend who's in middle of multiple horrendous stress and hasn't had a chance to sign up herself... any advice or thoughts gratefully received. Over to her...

My 4 month old has had a horrible cough for going on two months now
He coughs like an old man, then retches and vomits up his feed (if he has just eaten) It can happen after feeds or just randomly, day and night

It's really distressing. He's my second baby and I'm definitely not being neurotic. Our nanny said that the cough 'scares her'.

Been to the doctors three times now. Last time was monday and was meant to be referred to paediatrician but still not heard from them and its friday!

It's definitely not infection cos he's happy and healthy (when he's not coughing)

Any ideas? I'm really scared it's asthma... We have no family history

I had whooping cough vaccine when preg and he's had all his vaccines
Assuming it can't by cystic fibrosis cos he's been tested?

hi could it be reflux or intolerance to his milk my little one would make choking noises an hour after a feed then projectile vomit his whole feed up it was more the choking sound that frightened me but babies bringing up milk is normal so just mentioned it to hv in passing and said it was reflux he has thickener in his milk to help his stomach digest it easier and stay down. sorry if this has been ruled out n hopefully someone with more knowledge will be along soon to help you. my lo is 4 months old n they are defo designed to keep us on our toes.
