Sour smelling baby bum...

Just that really!
My DD is nearly seven months old now, and has a really sour, vinegary smelling bum, although I think it's more the vaginal region.

She gets bathed in just water every night, baby soap twice a week, though I dont use soap on her girl bits (the very thought makes me itch!) Nappy every two to three hours if she hasn't pooed. I wipe her thoroughly each time.

Why is she smelly? I can smell it through her clothes?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sounds like it could be a water infection or thrush perhaps?

Could she be teething? My DD smells like this when she is teething. Her wee and poo smell just as you have described.

my dd's breath smells like this when teething/about to get ill.

Could it be the nappy. I found pampers made the wee smell really strong and aldi nappies smell really chemically. What brand are you using , have a sniff of the packet

MummyWeatherwax · 29/04/2013 21:18

She is teethy just now, so that could explain it.

It's not the nappies, they smell fine!

I'll give it a few days, then see if it passes with the teething.
Thanks for your help Smile

Teething.

TotesAmazeGoats · 01/05/2013 09:40

Definitely teething. That strong vinegary smell we get for weeks while they're coming through, it's awful.

Update: no teeth yet, but a bad case of norovirus. Hmm

Thank you for all your advice - yet again, MN has helped me feel reassured and like I'm not alone Smile
