Anyone else's toddler a scowler?

My DS is 19 months and has amazing facial expressions - beautiful smiles but also deadly scowls when unhappy. He frowns a lot!

I know this is probably normal but I never see any other child do it (and everyone always comments on it as he throws them an evil dagger of a look).

My DD was a terrible scowler at about 2 (?), but I think it was mostly shyness, now she's the opposite and talks to everyone.

Not scowl exactly, but worse: a profoundly unattractive nose-wrinkle/snarl when he's asking for treats. It's a kind of tantrum early warning system. So it could be worse

Our 21 scrunchies up his nose, frowns and purses his lips when not impressed.

Only for a second or two, then he's on the floor screeching little cherub

My 17 mo went through a phase of frowning. It was actually really sweet and funny as she always did it at strangers and then would break out into a radiant smile when they laughed about it.

I think she started because I frowned at her to convince her I was serious when telling her not to climb on the table etc and she was just trying out her new expression. She doesn't do it so much anymore (a month later) although she still has a wide range of great faces.

DD (23 mo) has the most amazing furrowed brow frown when she isn't impressed with something. She has also perfected the 'dirty look'!

My 18 mth old DD gives the filthiest looks ever, she frowns, scowls up at me from under her eyebrows.... And her latest trick is to fold her arms, stick her nose in the air and look away when asked to do something she doesn't want to!!! Aaaargh!

Weirdly my little diva is a very happy child, but also wilful and if things aren't going her way the frown comes out, big time. So funny!

Oh yes!! Both of mine have been scowlers! DS1 was well known for always being grumpy and having a 'death stare'. He's 5 now and the happiest most sociable little boy ever but I do think a lot of it was shyness and also not really understanding the world properly. DS2 is 15 months and also well known for his 'grumpus face'. He's goregeous and grumpy though :) It doesn't mean he'll be an unhappy child.

My DS2 will be 16 weeks fri, and whilst he is smiley and beautious to me, strangers get the stoney face unless they are lucky! He has been discribed as stoic!!

My dd scowls at strangers. I am probably a wizened hag but I actually like that even at 21 months age isn't complying with the feminine ideal of making herself pretty and pleasing to strangers. She smiles like an angel at me.

Mine doesn't, but his friend does. I think DS is pretty unaware and unconcerned about his facial expressions to be honest. He doesn't care what he wears either.

While his friend has a "sad face" on demand and scowls when faced with something she doesn't like. It's very amusing
