dd (2.5) very quickly got to grips with peepees in her potty but has less than no interest in poohing in her potty.

Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas? I am finding it difficult to stay positive in the face of yet another pair of stinky pants,

yup. we have that. we've been dry a month now but poos happen in pants. she seems scared of doing it on the loo etc.

everyone says one day it just clicks, so i am holding out for that.

so frustrating though.

Second that, DD1 was potty trained so quickly for wees, but took about 6 weeks to do poos. I was tearing my hair out, she'd hold it in as long as she could, then do it in her pants.

Think you just have to wait and let her do it in her time.

friend of mine's daughter would only poo in a nappy, and this went on for months, in the end they put a nappy in her potty and gradually did it like that.

Theres about 2 other thread on this at the moment so it must be very common. We are 6 weeks in and not had a poo in the toilet for ages. Will be taking back the gina ford potty training your child in a week back to the library!

i had this problem with dd1 and it seemed to go on for months. i do recall her running along and a lump of fell out the bottom of her trouser leg in John Lewis's! in the end we resorted to a star chart which worked well but the problem was getting her to do the first one on the loo to get the first star. we put the chart up and the stars were all ready and i think that did it.. best of luck xxx

Pipsqueak, what age was your dd when you used the star chart? My dd is 2.5 and I wonder if she is a bit young to understand grasp the concept.

I have told her that if she does a poo in the potty or toilet she will get an extra special prize (she is obsessed with everything being her special thing atm) and she replies " just for peepees not poos"!

We had exactly the same thing with DD (then 2.4) for about 3 months after learning to do wees in potty/toilet. We did the sticker chart thing for wees and she loved it. Tried it with extra special stickers for poos but no joy. One day it just seemed to click and we have only had 3 accidents since. She is now 3.3. Sorry if that's not much help with stinky pants but it will happen.

dewmeadow · 14/05/2006 12:18

I know (sigh)! It's just so yucky an dthe smell of poo seems to be everywhere all day, especially when DD tries to help by catching her poo with her hands as it comes out and then puts it into the toilet. I suppose at least her pants arent dirty!

Thanks for encouragement

dewmeadow...dd1 was a little over 3 when we tried the chart. we had proably had about 3 or 4 months of poo in the pants before we thought to try this. you may be right taht your dd is too young but perhaps give it a go and see....xx
