when did you put baby in own room?

just wondering when you first let baby sleep in a room alone. DD is 3 months and she always sleeps in same room as me, even for naps. She is fast outgrowing her moses basket and I guess it will soon be time to put her in her cot. Did you have the cot in your room and did she go straight into room alone and at what age? I naively thought she'd be in moses basket til about 6 months!

DD at 8.5 months and DS is still in with me (co sleeping) at 7 months. I don't expect him to be going anywhere soon.....

DD is five months this week, we moved her into her own room last week. I was convinced she would be in our room with us for a long time, certainly up to the recommended 6 months. Also, for the first 3 months I loved having her in our room. Some of the most content moments of my life have been lying between her and dh while they slept. However, when her sleep patterns changed and became more 'adult' she would wake if either of us stirred. Sometimes I'd hear her wake then realise I must have been awake and making noise which had woken her! So we moved her to her own room and she wakes much less.

I did insist to dh that we have a monitor with a sensor pad to detect if she stops breathing and this has made me feel a bit better.

3 months; like yours she grew out of Moses basket. No room in our room for crib or cot. With movement sensor & video monitor = much better night sleep for all of us :-)

DS slept in our room until he grew out of his crib at about 7/8 months. Our crib is bigger than a standard moses basket though.

From day on here.

I slept on a Z bed for the first 10 days or so with both. Never had any problems- have a super baby monitor and always sleep with the doors open.

I knew (and respect) the 6 month advice, however for us, I had been wondering for sometime if I was waking DD up as I ALWAYS work up just before she did. We moved her the night after she slept a long stretch of the night at just before 3 months.
We still have the crib in our room for when she is ill (which has thankfully only been once).

i put my LO in her own room as soon as she started sleeping through the night, which was about 2 weeks. she makes a lot of noises in her sleep which would wake me up even though she was sound asleep so as soon as we cut out the middle of the night feed she went in her room. she absolutly loves her cot and sleep for 12-13 hours a night (at 5 months) and even hits the button for her projector on her own if she wakes up in the night.

but i guess it depends a bit on the baby. mine is very independent and hated her moses basket because she likes to spread out but clingy babies might need to be closer for longer and maybe if they are the kind of baby that likes a smaller space a cot might not feel as cosy for them.

6 months. DD was in a co sleeper cot and at 6 months started to be able to turn round and kick me, so the side went on and she moved out a couple of weeks later. We never got her into the Moses basket and she was big so would have been out of it pretty quickly anyway.

Both DDs about 3 months. They've been completely different in their sleeping preferences (DD1 was in her Moses basket for TEN months whereas DD2 starfishes in her cot).

In both cases they slept much better without us and vice versa. Quiet rooms, blackout blinds.

both dc from about 2 days old, in a moses basket in a cot right next to our room. We could hear them and had the monitor

DS is 23 months, still firmly ensconced in a cot wedged next to our bed.

DD 7 months,
DS1 8 months,
DS2 16 months,
DS3 still in st 12 months but am dreading building up to him moving in with DS2.
I would not have got any sleep with them in a separate room until at least 6 months. I'd be forever checking on them and all but DS1 were feeding at night until 5-6 months and I'd rather do that in my warm bed.
