He's nearly 8m, even if its just twice a night he wakes! But he'll not eat much in the day though which is a bit Hmm

Its the paper liners im using, I use fleece if the nappy hasn't got a fleece inner. Can you put fleece on fleece?

Ive heard of women on CBM with a poo spatula or spoon and I must say Im thinking about it!

Ooh, fluff is addictive.Grin

I want to tackle the back garden tomorrow. I unblocked the drain outside that comes from the bathroom and the smell was horrific.

I do the man jobs in the house! Grin

Is there any fluffy post on the way to anyone?

PurplePidjin · 25/04/2013 04:22

BFG should have got some yesterday?

Just caught up - what a lot of chat! I'll never have time to read it all.

Thanks Pidj Thanks, I did indeed get the package yesterday and DD is already in them Grin. I can finally use the prefolds. Phew. Not wasted after all Hmm.

Hope everyone is getting good quality sleep and enjoyin the spring weather!

Yay! I use pfs for all sorts - cleaning windows, demisting the car, underneath for nappy free time, stuffing pockets... Rarely are they used as an actual nappy!

Made more longies this morning after a rubbish night in a too-small soaker. But they're soaking in lanolin and if this feed doesn't hurry up they'll still be wet tonight like the others were yesterday (they've stretched and are now so big they fall down!)

They have a rocket on the arse and he will ge wearing them tomorrow afternoon to the parenting group I've started at the children's centre :o

I'm thinking of getting some pfs for DS2 to tide us over until he fits into the size 1s/BTPs I've got. DS1 was tiny at birth (2.8kg) and even the size 1s I have would've been too big. What pfs would you recommend and do they come in different sizes? There's a shop near me that sells Bummis but could also order something else online.

I just ordered a Kari Me sling! Did lots of research and it just kept coming out as the best option for me (apart from maybe a woven wrap but they're just too expensive at the moment), so I'll be curious to put it into use! Also just got the TENS machine I ordered. I'm finally getting organised!

LeBFG · 25/04/2013 12:21

ooooo, birth preparation. Exciting times rrreow. I HATE any electric shocks so couldn't bear the thought of a TENS - did you use it last time? I thought DD was tiny at 3kg but at two months she is already filling out her 3mo sleepsuits Shock.

PurplePidjin · 25/04/2013 12:46

Ds was 2.8 (6lb3?) and size one were ok but needed holding on with the wrap, although some of mine don't have crossover velcro. Nippa ones are great though for that, infinitely adjustable.

Pack the sling in your hospital bag - dp brought mine in the next day and it was far better than the awful goldfish bowl things you're supposed to cart them round in :o

OP posts:
rrreow · 25/04/2013 13:56

I've got some ME Sandies which have poppers, but I might get some nippas to use on them actually, that might work.

BFG yes I used it last time. I found it quite helpful during the initial period pain-like contractions and the ones a bit further in that take your breath away. Later on I completely didn't feel it anymore though and forgot to use it (after the birth I realised it had been permanently stuck on the 'boost' button for the latter part of the labour - but the pain of the contractions had completely overridden the sensation)

LeBFG · 25/04/2013 15:10

I've been using LL size 1s but they are quite bulky on young-uns. There is so much material in the cross over bits - I've often thought that - I think this is why fitteds are so fat. It doesn't do much iyswi: a whole lot of material for not much gain in absorbancy. Hey ho. Prefolds and two parters make much more sense.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 25/04/2013 21:59

Rrreow I have some prefolds in the library stash I could loan you if you want to try them? I could never get on with them myself so I won't be very good at 'selling' them but I've tried a small one stuffed in an Alva pocket and it worked really well. If you like fitteds and wraps how about bimbles, I think they come in quite small sizes.

Loaned out some nappies today ! Grin and had mine out on the line Grin Grin

Good job with your parenting group Pidj, hope ds's rocket bum knocks their socks off! In a manner of speaking...

Hello everyone I haven't said hello to! Especially all new fluff fans!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 25/04/2013 22:01

bimbles

NappyHappy · 25/04/2013 22:39

I love those nappies Biscuit. The boys wear them at night but I've had to boost ds3's!

The fluff is on the maiden but the fluff I took in off the line yesterday had been out for 2 days and smells really fresh. I am tragic!

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 26/04/2013 08:56

No you're not! I love the smell of washing fresh off the line! Maybe we're both tragic Smile

NappyHappy · 26/04/2013 10:15

We must be Wink. Have you heard of a poo spoon/spatula?

rrreow · 26/04/2013 10:49

Biscuit thanks, but as I'm wanting to use them as a stopgap until DS is big enough to fit into his size 1s (so approx 3.5kg if he's born at less than that) he'd probably have reached that by the time I tried out the prefolds! I'm also considering just using muslins with a wrap because of their reusability but it's great to know you can effectively use pfs as a booster too as that helps justify the cost.

midori1999 · 26/04/2013 20:06

Ooh, rrreow, I didn't realise you were expecting. Grin When are you due?

My friend who has been using cloth for a while has just lent me quite a few different types of newborn nappy to try when the baby is born. She says they should be enough until the baby is in my Bamboozles, but I'm not sure. There's about 6 I think. A little lamb (not sure what type) a fluffle, a teenyfit (that is SO cute!) and a few others that I can't remember what they are. I'm so happy with the bamboozles, I'm thinking of just ordering some size 1's for at first.

My bamboozle's came today, so I have enough cloth for full time now. Grin I have pre washed them and they are drying.

rrreow · 26/04/2013 20:56

midori1999 I'm due mid June! Feels like ages still.. When are you due?

Partly I'm just so excited to try out cloth from birth.. that is normal right...?!! (although we're going to use sposies until the meconium is out the way and/or if we need to stay in hospital for any reason). We wanted to go with cloth for DS1 but just weren't able to wrap our heads around it, had some leaks/poosplosions and thought the nappies were at fault Sad. Oh well at least I'm going in to it now with a lot more knowledge!!

rrreow · 26/04/2013 20:58

Wanted to go with cloth for DS1 soon after he was born I meant. Obviously he's in cloth now.

DH just complained to me that I don't do any of the nappy changes anymore, that he's always doing it Grin It's kind of true though. I probably only do about 6-8 changes a week! (although to be fair, the bulk are done by nursery/childminder) But I figure I'm going to be doing about 90% of the changes for DS2 initially so I'm just accruing some nappy changing credit Grin

LeBFG · 27/04/2013 08:56

I did muslins first time round and I've found the prefolds much better this time. No nippa, just held in with a wrap/stuffed. They are easier to fit and more absorbant - they last DD hours if she doesn't poo. They do take longer to dry though. Would recommend highly! I like them better than LL at the moment because I find the fitteds are bulky at the back and newborns spend a lot of time on their backs. I wonder how comfortable the fitteds are for them.

midori1999 · 27/04/2013 18:23

Not too long to go then rrreow, although I bet it feels like forever. Grin I'm not due until mid october, but I have gestational diabetes and an on insulin and metformin, so they won't let me go over 38 weeks. That said, all except my first (this is my 7th) were born before 38 weeks naturally anyway, so I may not get to induction.

Today has been our first full day in cloth and DD has a bit of nappy rash. Sad she has had a poo at every single nappy change today, so that's probably why but I only have sudocream so I think I'm going to have to stick her in a disposable tonight. I think I'm changing her enough, I've used 4 nappies today, so changed every 3 hours or so and they've by no means been soaked at the changes. Obviously I've changed her immediately when she's poo'd. Does that all sound ok?

What nappy creams can I use with cloth if any?

Thanks.

NappyHappy · 27/04/2013 19:59

Hi Mid, ive used Metanium, sudocrem, bepanthen and vaseline and its only the Metanium that stains but it washes out.

Its been a big wee fest today with my 2.

KentuckyFriedChildren · 27/04/2013 20:59

BOO! Grin I am crap at keeping up with threads but here I be. Just to say hello though as I have been so ridiculously busy I have had very little time to use the computer (plus my net has been off for weeks) and I may well not get on mn for another while. It's all go here, we came back from holiday with the offer of the family business and a house and so we are moving to Malta!! Have to sort out dual passports and school places and selling up and all that jazz so we will be leaving at the end of the next school year which will be next july. I am super excited Grin Grin Grin It does mean I will be passing on my sling library dreams to my friend and can no longer be a cloth crusader but what an opportunity! Hope everyone is good and all the new (and old) babies are well Smile dd2 will be 6 months in a couple weeks! Dh is just coming in from work so I must go get his dinner now but I will be back to actually read the thread and maybe even have a chat asap Smile

midori1999 · 28/04/2013 10:11

Thanks NH. I didn't realise you could use sudocream, I thought it coated the nappy or something. Will make life much easier to use it.

I am not sure I'll save any money by using cloth as I've discovered the WeeNotions website this morning... Oh dear.... DH is not going to be impressed....

PurplePidjin · 28/04/2013 10:54

midori get on the preloved fb pages and stalk for bargains?

OP posts:
LeBFG · 28/04/2013 12:53

Yes, I use creams when neccessary and never had problems with my nappies mid. ANd I second Pidj's suggestion too. I've had some real bargins.

How exciting for you KFC - I hope all goes as well as you would like. It'll be a great learning time for you and your family at the very least!
