Hi ladies sorry to barge in but I'm new to cloth (well 4th week :o) and have a bit of a daft question.

I'm taking DD swimming for the first time today, she's 11 Weeks, so I have a happy nappy and splash about Velcro costume thing but the happy nappy leg has a bit of a gap so I want something under it.

The only pockets I have are Ebay cheapies but they're fleece lined will this be alright?

PurplePidjin · 26/05/2013 12:15

A pocket nappy is all you need :)

Hello! We've just started using cloth (took us 10 months) so thought I'd sneakily come join the chat. I have a sling/carrier obsession already and am fast picking up a bit of a cloth one. We've borrowed loads from a nappy library but getting on ok with cheapy pockets (with a bamboo and a microfibre insert) adding to it bit by bit though and quite liking fitteds now I've tried a few.

Slacking this week though and have mainly used disposables. Think it's teething but I'm having to change my son loaaaads and couldn't quite keep up with the washing/drying quite yet.

NappyHappy · 27/05/2013 17:47

Teething Poo is not good. Ds3 is teething too. Poor babies Hmm

Its raining again in Manc so the maidens will be out later along side the dryer!

Ooh, its nearly bath and bedtime for the small people! Just waiting for the beef stew to cook so we can eat and commence with witching hour!!

PurplePidjin · 27/05/2013 20:58

No teething poo here despite other obvious signs Hmm

rrreow · 27/05/2013 21:51

How do you do bedtime with 3???

NappyHappy · 27/05/2013 22:44

Its not pooplosion like this time but it burns his bum. Shock

Bedtime (witching hour) is as follows:

6.30-7pm both babies upstairs for change. Baths are every other night now. Cuddles with ds2 then put in bed then straight downstairs to feed ds3. He goes to bed between 7.45/8pm with his Winnie bear/lightshow thing on then spend the next 3 HOURS trying to get ds1 into bed and asleep. Trying to get him into a bath is a nightmare. When I have bribed gone on at him enough he goes in after Ive got the little people out.

Its easy with a toddler and a baby just have everything lined up ready. I had a Summer Infant Seat for the bath when ds2&3 were new. I started using this when they were about 6 weeks old and prior to that they were in the baby bath not at any set time of day.

NappyHappy · 27/05/2013 22:49

Meant to add, ds3 isn't sharing with ds2 yet but once he is sttn I will put him in (which will be interesting) with his brother. Who no doubt will try and climb in his cot as he adores him. Smile

NappyHappy · 30/05/2013 15:04

Any signs of baby yet Rrreow??

Some signs, but no baby Grin

Baby is 3/5 engaged and been getting quite uncomfortable braxton hicks especially at night. Feeling rather nauseous at the moment, but that might be the iced coffee I had earlier. Am 38w on Saturday. Can't happen soon enough as far as I'm concerned! Midwife said she could do a sweep next week so might well take her up on that.

DS is getting more and more difficult with nappy changes, but still no signs of being ready for potty training

NappyHappy · 30/05/2013 20:09

Well after the sweep get bouncing on a fit ball. It worked for me last time. Sweep Friday and on the ball in front of the TV and Saturday night the contractions started and out he popped Sunday morning.

Wish it was like that for the first 2! Pfft.

Ds1 was 2.5-3 when he PT'd. I was pg with ds2 at the time so cant remember. Leave it for a bit it can wait a bit longer.

PP and I are on standby! Grin

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 31/05/2013 22:04

Ooh bump watch! I expect you to be updating us between contractions rrreow Grin

Baby biscuit has recently become a little bugger tricky about nappy changing, all week she's been running away with a bare bum and crying when nappy put on - argh! But then today she was fine with it. Grrr. Terrible twos approaching I think...

NappyHappy · 31/05/2013 22:37

Biscuit, ds2 is exactly the same. He has also discovered the word 'no'. He is into and climbing on everything. Its funny as, but it won't be when he falls and breaks something!

Ds1's birthday party tomorrow. A house full of 5yr old boys. Shock Hmm Confused Wine

Just sorting the house out now ready.

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 01/06/2013 10:50

Good luck for today NH, hope you (and your house) survive the party...!

NappyHappy · 01/06/2013 17:18

All gone Wink

All but 1 went at 3pm and the last kids parents turned up at 4.30 and only because I said we were going out. She wanted to stop and drink but Im not a drinker (NYE was the last time I had a glass of Vino) so it would've been pop or tea!

The house isnt really that messy but all the kids are full of chocolate, ice cream and sandwiches. Ds2 found and ate almost an entire bag of Haribo!

Bedtime should be fun!

PurplePidjin · 01/06/2013 20:48

4 nappies in 10 hours. Good or bad? I'm umming and ahhing about fitteds vs aio's. Fitteds last longer (2 a day) but his poo isn't predictable so some days i change 4 times because of it any way. And we're starting to get strong teething wee so I'm thinking frequent changes and wipe-downs are a good thing. Thoughts?

OP posts:
rrreow · 01/06/2013 21:00

I've been lurking but was in hospital most of yesterday (I'm fine, baby's fine, they want to induce me but I'm refusing because thank god this is my 2nd pregnancy and I understand my rights much better!) and DH is out working today so no chance to write anything!

Not sure when DH is back tonight.. you think I can convince him to DTD after 12 hours on his feet? Grin I'd really love to have this baby tomorrow but at the moment I don't really feel like labour is close. But then again I was induced last time so I haven't really got a clue what the signs are or whether labour can come on out of nowhere.

New tricks for changing nappies: promise TV after nappy change or give iPhone to DS during nappy change.

PP We do about 3-4 changes in 12 hour with fitteds on average. 4 hours per nappy or can stretch to 5-6 on lazy occasion (depending on how much DS has drunk). Boosted AIOs do a maximum of 4 hours but leaks do occur sometimes. DS does anywhere between 1-3 poos a day so I guess it's a similar situation in that we end up changing him anyway. Teething wee is horrible! I'd prefer him to be in fitteds when teething because they contain the smell so much better than AIOs.

rrreow · 01/06/2013 21:02

Hope this kids go to sleep alright NH, you deserve to put your feet up and have BrewBiscuit

BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 01/06/2013 21:14

Are you overdue R or is there some other reason to induce? Hope you get to have your home birth. My first clue was waters breaking! Took a couple of hours to get going after that though. I was 13 days overdue at the time and the for induction the next day. We tried walking, DTD, curry, nothing worked, it just happened!

Pidj, I like fitteds cos I only seem to get 2.5-3 hrs out of AIOS, even boosted. Mind you I normally change after 3 hrs ish anyway.

NH hope those kids are asleep and you've got your feet up!

PurplePidjin · 01/06/2013 21:26

Ah, see an unboosted size 1 fitted does 5-6 hours here, my size 2 babeco fitteds (snap in booster) do 12 overnight. Dp prefers AIOs but generally only does the first of the day so i could do fitteds after 9-nap at 1 then nap-bath at about 6:30. But, he's shifting his routine round again. But i could sell the AIOs and have some free cash. But what if i want them later, he's a wriggler and i might need them for speed changes, my mum, nursery (eventually) etc. Argh!

Are you officially overdue, rrreow, or is there another reason for intervention? Friend of mine went to 40+18 with her first, he has some non-specific behavioural issues but i don't know whether it's related she's a bit odd herself if it were me i would always wonder, but i think with anything like a learning difficulty you always would. R started 13 days early then took his time and needed help from syntocin at the end!!

PurplePidjin · 01/06/2013 21:28

My first sign was waters too, Biscuit, but 2 weeks before edd not after :o

OP posts:
BiscuitCrumbsInBed · 01/06/2013 21:35

Waters going is such a comedy thing! Where were you? I was sitting in the garden having coffee, jumped up shouting 'I'm leaking!' Grin My friend's waters broke in the cinema, mid film...

A fitted LL bamboo lasts overnight, it's just in the day she does mega wees. I would hang on to the AIOs if you can, if they are BTP, they go down to weeing less again when they're older so you may find you use them more in a few months. Off to google babeco, not heard of that one and am trying to find out as much as I can for the library...

PurplePidjin · 01/06/2013 21:46

I was in bed and thought i needed to loo so went. Then had to shout dp to get mynotes from the car so i could ring in for advice. My only regret is going straight in, i should've stopped off at Tesco en route...

I can't find much on google, got them off ebay apparently used but looking suspiciously new iyswim. Love them!
