Does anyone know if i can home school 1 week every second month etc.

Can parents just choose when they want to home educate? For example 1 week every second month? Or are there certain schedules you need to follow? If anybody knows... (by this I mean the child being in school the rest of the time but being taken out for a week every second month for example)

That's normal, its called half term

I mean in term time

I know of people who home-school one day a week but that's every week in term time, yours sounds quite sporadic. What would the reasons be?

I've never heard of this, MsBella. As your DC would need to be on the school roll, I suspect it would simply rack up as unauthorised absence. The Home Educators on MN might have a better idea.

i am fairly certain that you have to choose to either use the school, or home ed.

I suppose it is technically possible to make an arrangement with the school to do what you describe, as they do have an option in the register to say they are being educated elsewhere.
And I think some people manage to make arrangements for kids to join in eg pe. But it is not easy to do.

suggest you get this moved to home ed, there are lots of people there with experience.

My reasons are that I want them to be part of the school, socialising etc. I feel like them being out of school for days every week might make them too 'different' (not that it should matter at all) or that they wouldn't be a part of the school enough...

Steppemum, I know that you can definitely home school part time but just not sure if my idea is allowed, I think not all schools allow kids to come in part time though

It's pretty unlikely to work out TBH. You have the right to a school place, or you have the right to HE instead. You can request or negotiate flexischooling but it isn't very widely done

Try asking in Home Ed, OP. It's a separate board on MN. Loads of experience on there.

Nope not up north, ill look into that though maybe there's something like that round here
