Chocolate and baby?

My DD is now 10 months and got her first easter egg from grandparents.
She has never had any chocolate or sweets, not that I am against them just never bothered as she is so little and figured she has years of being tempted by the loveliness that is chocolate.
So my point...when did you first give your little ones chocolate or sweets? I am just overthinking it?

Overthinking it. She doesn't need a whole egg-you can eat most of it.

The great thing about having a baby is people buy them Easter eggs, and you get to eat them.

My DS was 3 months on his first easter i got him disney DVDs he still got alot of eggs then and i enjoyed them all he is 15 months this time and hes had a Egg and a DVD again .

My DS is 18 months now and he's got a few eggs but we shall be eating them but letting him have a few bits. He had his first bit of chocolate at Xmas when he was 15 months xx

I didn't give DD chocolate until her first birthday (if we ignore the bits I didn't see SIL sneak her while I wasn't looking ), she only tends to have it at my nan's house now though- if great grandparents can't spoil her, who can?

Both of mine got tastes of chocolate from about maybe 8-10 months. Family always seemed to buy heaps of Easter eggs for them and chocolate at Christmas.

I would give them a few small pieces and then would eat the rest myself sometimes I would be really nice and let DH share.

I personally don't see the harm in letting babies try it. It's just another flavour or taste. I think more harm comes from making treats seem like something really naughty. Everything in moderation!

Dd had her first chocolate buttons at about 11mo. They were from.her forst Easter at three.months old baffled by anyone who buys chocolate for.a.three.month old

At 15mo she now has both veg drawers in the fridge full.of.chocolate that other people have given her from.her birthday.and christmas. God help us come.Sunday when even.more.arrives.

We arent chocolate fans so.I cant even snaffle it.myself.

Our children are 18 months old and won't be eating their eggs. The grandparents think I'm a dragon but so what. They don't need them and won't miss them.

My DD is 10 months and I've managed to avoid any sweets/chocolate so far. I'm a horrible mean mummy and not going to be giving her any either!

I'm with you on the thinking that there's plenty of opportunity in the future to stuff her face with junk, that if I can avoid it for as long as possible I will. It's hard enough to get her to eat veg without the knowledge that " good stuff" exists!

Ds 9 months had a smidgen of a chocolate egg today that a grandparent brought him.

I agree with the poster who said making it taboo is worse... I have a friends dd who literally grabs everything sweet in sight as her mum will never let her have it. She's now 2 and practically mugged me for my cake the other day.

Dd is 9 years old and I've always let her have bits of whatever really and her fave dinners are stuffed red peppers and aubergine pasta..... ! So I doubt the odd bit of chocolate as part of a varied diet does any harm at all.

Do whatever feels right to you. DS has always had little bits of chocolate and it hasn't done him any harm I am very much from the "everything in moderation" school of thinking with food but if you don't want to give it don't

DD didn't get any chocolate until she was about 20mo. Before that she didn't ask for it so I didn't give her any as it doesn't really have any nutritional value. However when she asked for it I didn't want to turn it into a big deal by refusing so she gets a tiny piece ocassionally.

It's great when you only have one child, as others have said, as relatives like to buy them eggs, but they've no need for chocolate at that age, and won't miss them, so you get to eat them all.
Doesn't work so well with subsequent children as they spot you eating the baby's.

With DS1 he was probably about 1.DS2 was younger but I can't remember,it's not really an issue as they only have little bits here and there,same with sweets,cake & biscuits..If she's never had it though,she won't miss it so eat it yourself..you won't get away with it for ever!

I can't remember when is my DD's first time,.. I agree with pp,. letting her taste it won't hurt.
