what was your worst age sleep wise?

just wondering when the worst age is generally. lo is 5 weeks and i guess i'm just hopeful that newborn is the worst stage and that i might get some sleep at some point soon! wishful thinking i know!

Ugh, definitely newborn

Sorry less than 6 months the sleep was ok. Obviously night wakings but you expect that with a newborn don't you and easy to feed back to sleep. It's as they start to develop, stand, shout, talk and wake at 5am every fricking morning (15 months onwards) that it starts to get hard!

First 8 weeks for both my DD's. Has been pretty much plain sailing since, so good luck and hang in there!

Newborn til 19mths for DS never doing it again

2 year old DS is now worse than a newborn as his screams and demands from his bedroom are sooooo loud and desperate I'm sure the neighbours must have at least considered calling the emergency services.

Sorry OP, LP going through sleep training this week, not normally this bad.

From a year to about 3.

Newborn..then 6-7 months whilst still breastfeeding and starting to wean.That was worse then newborn for me,both DSs woke every hour & it killed me.Then by 8 months everything improved.

sorry - I have to warn you that the first couple of months were definitely not the worst for me - at 4 months ish there is a sleep regression that seems to be common (was among my friends anyway) - I wish I had known in advance as I was starting to relax and think 'oh the sleepless nights are behind me' - but DS started waking hourly - more sometimes! I was BF and just kept feeding him back to sleep and on reflection think I made it worse....next child will get it tougher from me!

Ds1 - upto 9 weeks.
Dd - 6 months - very demanding baby and very clingy.
Ds3 and ds4 - first few months - although still waking like newborns but more settled during day.

Also, the teething stage, isn't very pleasant. Cranky babies are the worst.

Around 6-8 months. Hourly wakings every night. Drove me mad. As a newborn DS was actually surprisingly good, averaging stretches of 3-4 hours a night.

6 months til about 3 yrs. I expected the very early days to be awful sleep wise. Thought it would get better after about 6 months - more fool me. Ds didn't sleep through regularly til about 2.5 and then would wake really early every day.

just to add a positive note - although of course different for every one - at 7ish months we did some sleep training - didnt leave him to cry but did sit and pat/ sing etc rather than pick up from cot - and there was a very quick and massive improvement in his sleep - he now sleeps through 11 hours .....does wake up early but you cant have it all! I dont think the sleep training on its own made him a good sleeper - partly it was food as well and stopping BF at night - but it definitely helped.....

DD was a dream until 4 month sleep regression, going from 1-2 feeds per night (but not another peep) to waking hourly. Settled down a little at 7.5 mo but still not sleeping through so finding out tougher now - compounded sleep deprivation! Not as bad as some in that she settles v quickly, but its the disturbed sleep.

Started some light training (currently teething) and will be night weaning in a couple of weeks too.

Thing is, you just get on with it so I wouldn't get stressed. Yours might be great :)

Dd1 was bad for her first 2 years but the first 6 weeks were hellish. The rest was a breeze in comparison. The newborn phase with regular feeds and a baby that won't be put down is definitely the worst I've been through

It was really really bad from about 7-14 months, because by then I was so tired and fed up.

He slept through for the first time at 16 months, but now he's 2 he still gets me up twice a night, then up for the day at 5.30.

Sorry if that's not helpful OP! If it's any consolation most of my friend's babies didn't have this problem sleeping.

DD1 is 5m and the last week has been terrible! Waking every hour , taking ages to settle and fighting it during the day

Newborn to 2.5 he's only 2.5

On the upside, my 4 week old DS2 sleeps really well. Much better than his big brother

For both of mine, newborn then 4-7 ish months has been worst in terms of getting the least sleep. But with DS2 I have found 18 months to now (23 months) fairly depressing as he still wakes at least once and often more each night, and after almost 2 years of broken sleep the exhaustion is kicking in. Sorry!

My worst sleeping age was 31, when I had my first DD

Seriously, 0-7 months then fine. It got harder and harder as time went on from 0-7 months as you get progressively more tired but then suddenly everything works out :-)

With des it was just the first 5 years, but that wasn't entirely his fault bless him,

Dd was the first 6 weeks.

Do you manage to get a lie in and can someone take Lo out for a walk after a feed so you can have some rest?
