So DD is just over 6 months and started weaning approx 10 days ago. Love the whole BLW ethos and DD seems to really enjoy exploring the food. Not eating much yet obviously, so milk feeds the same. However some must be going down as she is pooing nearly every 2 hours and even once in the night the last 2 nights ( previously just one poo a day). Is this normal? She doesn't have a temperature but all that poop is giving her a touch of nappy rash which she never had before. Today i have only offered her porridge and steamed veggies to suck/gum. Is this a good plan until her tummy settles or should I just carry on ??? Thanking you in advance for any pearls of wisdom Wink

Not sure but I think when mine started weaning the frequency (and content!) of nappy changes altered. I definitely remember a phase at about 9mths when we were giving him prunes daily, can't remember if he went through a 2-hourly phase though, sorry.

I remember the pooing varying wildly once starting weaning. I mean, all of a sudden you're introducing lots of different things for their little stomachs to deal with when previously they've only had milk, so it's logical that it takes a while to re-settle. Unless you think the difference with pooing is to do with a bug, I'd just keep offering a variety of food and it will soon settle down.

sounds like you're doing the right thing. she doesn't sound ill, just her pooh is changing. to be expected if she's shovelling in different things at the other end.
