Potty training - first 2 days went well but now he's holding everything in :/

Posted this in potty training but didn't get a reply...

My ds is 2.8 years old and we haven't really been trying to train him at all until he randomly did a poo on his potty Friday night. I put him in pants and he did really well Saturday with lots of wees in the potty/toilet and lots of fuss. He did one wee yesterday on potty and had an accident but today he hasn't weed at all or hasn't pooed for 2 days. Is it normal for him to be doing this? I've put a pull up on him for his nap as he seemed to be getting distressed and he's not 100% well either. Help!

So all day yesterday and today he has not weed or pooed on the toilet or potty or even had an accident. He'll wee in his pull up for bed and that's it. He just holds it all day. And we're now on day 3 of no poo :/

Chocolate buttons for performance? Build in a few routine toilet visits and reward him? I have talked to friends about this and have been mighty Confused by the concept of them just going when they need to. I mean I always have a wee before I go out and before bed! Grin

The other option would be to take him out of nappies entirely....

I thought dryness for daytime nap at least was one of the signs?

Oh and lots to drink. Melon is also pretty much 100 % water!

Thanks Brett. I've asked him a few times today about toilet/potty. He's been on twice and done nothing. So he's not had a wee since at least 9am this morning! It's baffling me! I wouldn't mind so much if he was having accidents but not going at all? He was doing so well! He's even refusing to go on the potty at this afternoon. I'm at my wits end tbh! Do I stick with it or try again in a few weeks?

I'd try and get him to drink more tomorrow.

It is normal for them to not go that much though, dd some days only goes morning noon and night...

At least you know his bladder control is good!
