brio mec or similar construction kit

DS has his 3rd birthday soon and loves building things using nuts, bolts etc. He has a little workbench from John Lewis with a screwdriver, hammer and spanner and I want to get a present to develop this theme.

At his nursery they have something called Brio Mec which looks like it would let ds continue to screw on nuts and bolts, hammer in nails etc but would also let him construct something with all this activity. Anyone know where I could buy this or some kind of similar toy?

New baby is also due soon so I would like to get ds something nice either for his birthday or as a present from his baby brother or sister and I think this is the kind of toy he would enjoy most:).

come on people with boys (or girls!). What do they build? Has to be stuff that uses screwdrivers and spanners and hammers ie pretty realistic and close to what "daddy does".

Brio mech is nice. My mum has some and my two (5 and 7) love to play with it. ds mostly makes weapons, I'm afraid. We looked at buying some, and I think that you have to go mail order. Go to the Brio site to find stockists. It's nice because it's wood and durable plastic - my mum's set belonged to various cousins.
