7 week old wont nap

My 7 week old boy is fine at night, he will go in his cot whilst sleepy and wakes up every 2/3 hours to feed then back to sleep.

But during the day he won't nap. Yesterday he finally had a nap at 5pm after being up all day, he fell asleep on me so didn't dare move him in case he woke up. He had been fussy all day as he was so tired.

He only naps on me or after 20mins walking in his pram. But I really need to find a way to get him to nap at home.

Does anyone have any ideas?

My dd wouldn't nap anywhere during the day that wasn't on me until she was about 14 weeks old... I invested in a good sling, I could get everything done with her tucked away in it. I know slings aren't for everybody but I just preferred giving in to it than fighting her.... At 7 wks, she would have screamed if I put her anywhere near the buggy so I think she was about 10 wks old when I started putting her in it for a bit every day and then eventually she got used to it and would be ok falling asleep in it... then we bought a vibrating cot (yes, really!) which is how we transitioned her from sleeping on me/buggy into a bed. She's 14 mo now and a really good napper/sleeper so don't lose heart!!!

Instinctively they want to nap on you. Don't fight it, you won't 'spoil' them or encourage bad habits if you let them. They've been inside you for 9 months so don't know any other way. I would suggest getting a sling or wrap though so you are more mobile. A stretch wrap like a moby (or Victoria sling lady on eBay is cheaper but the same) is good for a newborn. Enjoy your snuggles :)
