Not long enough according to all the books! if we are at home all day he will have a nap 90 mins after waking then every 2 hours after that. All his naps are 25 minutes and never any longer. This means if he wakes early then he can sometimes have 5 or 6 naps a day which is a bit ridiculous. If we are out then he will fall asleep in pram or car seat and this might last for upto an hour.

Mine is the same. An hour or so after night sleep he naps no longer then 30mins every two hours after that. He won't self settle in the day. I have to rock him to sleep and when I put him down he wakes and crys sometimes takes longer to settle then the sleep. Night lovely 7-6 wakes once well except for this week waking twice. Think he is ready for food.
So he has 5 day naps all exhausting. Even if he goes out in the pram still 30 mins

three naps a day here. 45mins mid morning, 2 hours at lunchtime and 15-30 mins in the afternoon. mostly in her cot though the afternoon one is sometimes in her push chair or in my arms.

How long does yours nap for op? Are you thinking too much or too little?

DS will be 5 months tomorrow but he will generally have his longest sleep 2 hours after wake up in the morning - between 60 and 90 mins - then maybe two or three 45 min naps. We had a sort of 4 month regression where he lost the ability to nap but maintained a good sleep through at night - about 10 hours. So you know, win some/lose some :)

His naps also vary depending on what time he wakes up, which has a knock on effect of how many naps he gets in the day. But in general, I try to get him to sleep every couple of hours. I read somewhere that even a ten minute nap is fine, which made me feel a lot better about the settling/sleeping ratio.

Aworryingtrend and littleredmonkey my DS is the same !! Once he wakes in the morning, he'll have a feed and a nappy change and go back to sleep... and that is probably his longest nap ! After that he will want to nap every 1.5 to 2 hours but not for more than 30 mins and he doesn't self settle ! I sometimes feel I spend most of my day rocking him to sleep :(

MummyNoName I was thinking that DS naps too often but not for long...

I must add that he has pretty bad eczema and maybe he gets up because he is itchy :(

Thanks for your replies :)
