Skinny jeans on young children?

Am I the only one who feels like they are grown up, miniature adult clothing?

If you agree, what age do you think they are appropiate?

my life is too precious to spend sewing alterations to clothing that only cost a tenner or less

thus, skinny jeans/trousers for my two.

if i let the adjustable elastic out on my 3yo son's shorts, my nearly 6yo can fit them Hmm not everyone has roly poly kids

both wore only onesies/dungarees til they were over a year old because adjustable waists for baby clothes were rare then

indeed wearing trousers that fall down and have to be held up as you walk are rather restrictive too i reckon

my ds has been hearing skinner since he was 18m and they are great. go really well with his cut jumpers and desert boots. easier to turn up and stop being dragged along the floor too.

A couple of decades ago they were called drain pipes. Fashion comes and goes and I can't see the problem. As others have said, they're more practical too.

I don't get skinny jeans for kids either. Mine have skinny waists but hate restrictive clothing. DD just tears it off if it's not right, although she's like me and has sensory issues with things. I wish the fashion would swing back to combat pants again.

If your kids aren't plump, skinny jeans fit perfectly, and are much more practical than the ridiculously oversized baggy arse look that comes from normal supermarket jeans.

Skinny jeans that I have bought for my DD in the past have a distinctively hipster cut to them too.

Now in my opinion hipster cut is for creating a low slung, saucy, flattering skimming the hips look, which usually exposes more midriff and lower back.
Not a look I'd want to see on a young child, no.

Skinny jeans are not restrictive. Well not on my son - he wears them for his climbing lessons ( jogging pants fall down on him - not a look you need up a large wall/boulder)

Bartlebee · 19/03/2013 18:52

My son is really skinny & looks really good in skinny jeans.

He looks wrong in anything baggier.

I hate jeans, or any mini versions of adult clothes on small babies though.

Pancakeflipper · 19/03/2013 19:56

Agree Bartlebee.

My other son has chubbier legs and I wouldn't ever try some skinny jeans on him. He has comfy cords !

MrsOakenshield · 19/03/2013 20:01

hasn't this always been the case? I definitely wore flares in the 70s, as a child. DD has 3 pairs of skinny cords for very cold days, they're just like thicker leggings, really, and never slow her down.

MissDiscombobulated · 20/03/2013 01:01

DS's Grandma bought him some when he was about 1yr. I thought they were quite restrictive for his crawling but he didn't seem to mind! No objection to them other than that as long as they're comfortable.

abbyfromoz · 20/03/2013 01:08

I see them like leggings...2y/o DD wears them with a swing top or blouse. Although i prefer traditional clothes for children (pinafores and bloomers squeeeee!!)
