DD has nappy rash which looks quite bad. She has been nappyless a lot of today. I usually use sudocrem but think this needs something else. So what is the best?

That one that begins with M and stains like mad !

Metanium - it is bright yellow and makes a mess but is brilliant. Can also get it free on prescription (I did) if you dont pay.

Metanium has always washed out of my cloth nappies fine (60 degree wash). Can't beat it for nappy rash but a little goes a long way!

mumfor1standfinaltime · 03/05/2006 19:56

I got some on a cream top I was wearing (yes I am mad to wear cream) and it washed out. Have never got any on cloth nappies, I just added an extra paper liner.

thanks all
I guess it will be available in boots so will pop in tommorow.

Metanium is Magic Cream For Sorely Bottoms.
24 hours of use, even the worst nappy rash has
all but gone.

Ditto for metanium, fantastic stuff, remember to dot on just a tiny bit and pat it to spread, its like wet chalk and needs to be thin I think to let the skin breathe. Hugs to her wee bot.

Metanium is very good and I got mine on prescription too (kids dont pay). I didnt even have to ask, doc volunteered it at baby clinic.

beachyhead · 03/05/2006 23:56

I send metanium to my friend in France, because it is SO GOOD (she does ask for it, I don't just send it!!!!)

SleepyJess · 04/05/2006 00:30

Savlon is surprisingly effective believe it or not.. and worth ago. Has worked like magic on all my kids in the cases of sore, bleeding nappy rash.

Oblomov · 04/05/2006 00:37

Metanium is the best - no question.

\link{http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T081400.asp\Here} is my favourite page about nappy rash - it talks about all the different kinds of nappy rash, and is very informative.

That being said, we use Kiels, which is hard to get and pricey, but really smooth and soothing. Sorted out a vile vile vile rash that DS2 got when we were on holiday and unable to let him go nappyless. Unlike Metanium, it isn't sticky, so is easy to rub on, and doesn't upset the baby when it goes on. Also, it even smells nice!

throckenholt · 04/05/2006 07:33

depends on the child - for some sudocream is fine, for other metanium is best. We also used kamillosan a lot for DS1, but found drapolene much better for our twins. Also found savlon was effective as well.

So - basically buy a small packet of whatever you like, try it - if it works stick with it, if not try something else.

Air time helps most of all - but not easy if it is at the oozing stage and upsetting them.
