Minki waffle - does anyone like them?

I'm confused by my Minki waffle - it's a bit rubbish really. The elastic is unbelievably tight and always leaves red rings round dd's legs. It's not hugely absorbant even with a booster. And the fit gives her a builders bum - not ideal for containment!

But all the nappy sites say how fab it is. Anyone else got one? Is it just me?

if it is leaving rings round her legs then don't do it up as tight?

It's a nippa and the only way for the nippas to reach IYSWIM pulls the elastic too tight at he legs. She's just average weight for her age and in a large.

maybe it's too small? specially as you say it gives her a builders bum

the side bits should come right up round the front, they shouldn't be so far apart that you can only just nippa it

I did wonder that when it arrived -it looks the same size as a Tots size 1.. It's in the drier atm but when it comes out I'll double check and see if the size is on it. dd is only just 21lbs so Im sure I ordered the large.

I've got a large nippa waffle on the for sale board for exactly the same reasons! Ds is only 15lbs and the large was the right size but still tight on his legs when nippa'd, I'm sure they are very small.

I have an aplix waffle and I have to say I really like it, it doesnt seem to tight on my daughter at all and she is very chubby for her size (she is 25 lbs in a size 2 nappy). I have also used it with just one booster as a nighttime nappy successfully and I find its absorbency better than the fluffles I usually use. I liked it so much I bought another one as I find it much thinner than the fluffles on my daughter too so I can fit her in smaller trousers.

it's odd, because the minki stuffables come up HUGE!

Standard Minkis are massive mate. Grin
I have to agree that there is something about Minki elastication that makes it very easy to cause red legs. I love my two minki Huggles for nights, but have to be super-careful when fastening or poor old ds gets really bad elastic nip. The problem is, in a bid to reduce the nip, I sometimes fasten them too loosely and the peepee comes straight out the leghole Shock and we get night leaks.
Night leaks involve a complete clothing and nappy change, followed by an hour of ds being really lively and refusing to go back to sleep - they are to be avoided.
Minki elastic does, however, keep all pooops in.
PS I have also heard that minki waffles are not all that absorbent, but I reckon they probably just need more washing and fluffing until they reach optimum absorbency - like most cotton naps. Smile

I have 4 beautiful slink minki nappies but I have been so disappointed because they are Huuuge. And they have leaked on me a couple of times, unlike my tots.

Do you mean literally leaked on 'you' Mrs Doolittle?
