Puberty? 7 yo boy..?

My boy will be 8 in 3 months time, and has got/has had a really strong BO for quite some time now. He has started to become really moody and appears to have raised hair follicles under his arms, not examined too closely round his other bits, so I guess this is early puberty? I am a bit gutted to think that it could be, ( selfishly wanting to keep my baby as long as possible) I have an older boy with no similar signs so far, but its the moodiness and outbursts of what appears to be rage...I have gone down the route of asking him if there are problems with school/friends anything making him upset, he denies any problems and says sometimes he just feels really cross and doesn't know why...is anyone else had this with a child his age? I know it's going to happen at some point but how do I help him manage his outbursts so he doesn't feel so upset? Advice please!

I'm not (until July!) a parent and certainly not a medical expert but thought I'd add a message to this thread as I myself went through puberty at 9 years old.

One thing it is really important to remember is that even if your son starts looking like an older boy/having teen-style tantrums etc he is still only a young child. He'll be scared and confused and, potentially, still want to participate in many very child-like activities.

Having people (in my case particularly older men, e.g. neighbours) start looking at me and treating me like a young woman when I was emotionally still very much a child was disorientating and weird.

BUT it did mean I was much more confident than many peers in my body and the effects it could produce on others by the time I was an older/late teen.

Swings and roundabouts really.

Good luck both of you.

He is very young for a boy to be starting puberty. Please take him to the GP to get checked out.
Good luck to you both.

Definitely see your GP - precocious puberty is very serious.

Not unusual ime for boys to have a bit of a pre puberty burst of BO before it actually starts.

Thanks for everyone's input, I have had him tp the gp who wasn't really interested, ginger, good point and you are right, I need to remember he is still only 7-8 emotionally, my poor boy! Will go back to gp I think and book with locum for 2nd opinion.
