She needs what she needs. Ds hasn't had a sleep in the day since 18 months, another 3 year old I know needs 3 hours to be human.

I agree. Go with what she needs. My DS stopped having a sleep in the day when he was 2.5 but I have a friend with a DD of 39 months who hasn't started nursery yet and usually has 2-3 hours sleep in the day.

this varies completely.

DD has never had much of a daytime nap, now she is three, she will very occasional have a nap if we've had a long car journey to make her fall asleep!

Ds is now 3.6 yo and naps some days and not others. He's being doing this for over a year. He can nap anything for 1 hour to 2 hours depending on what time he got up and how busy he's been. Dd on the other hand dropped naps at 2.2 yo. The days he does have a nap result in a later bedtime though.

I can't get dd to go to bed in the day for a nap anymore - no matter how tired she is. But she'll often nod off in the car on in the armchair. Annoyingly just before we have to leave to pick ds up from school.

Ds is rising three (July) and still has a sleep most days. Occasionally he won't do it but then ends up really overtired and doesn't sleep any longer at night. When he does sleep it's 90 minutes to two hours. He'll be starting nursery (attached to primary school) in January so am hoping he'll be done with napping by then.

My DS goes to a nursery with quite a strict timetable. Until 2.5 they have 1.5 hours per day, after this they have 1 - 1.5 hours quiet time or sleep, and I think this goes on until they finish nursery. However, just as some children have huge appetites and some don't, some need more sleep than others.

It also depends on you a bit. I know some people whose children have long day time sleeps, but their children stay up till 9 or 10 - as long as the total sleep adds is somewhere between 11 and 14 hours and they are refreshed, do what works best for your daughter and your lifestyle.
