I have a 6 month old, used to sleep for a good stretch at night- never right through but 6 hrs plus at times. She had a wee spell of a cold and now back to newborn level waking at least every 3hours if not sooner, usually 3times a night. No problem settling her with no dummy/rocking, just pop her in her cot and she sometimes moans but always settles herself. When she wakes at night I just breastfeeding her and pop her down and she never cries but still at least 2 but usually more times a night. What can I do to snap her out of it!?! She has a wee lunch and porridge before bed.

My ds was like that, he slept not that great but around 5-6 solid hours prior to weaning then after weaning he has gotten progressively worse at sleeping.

He is 11 months now and hasn't slept through since he was 6 months old...by sleep through I mean 5-6 solid hours. He can sleep for about 2 hours now then up every hours thereafter.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers but wil be interested in your replies...hopefully someone will come along with some good advice!

With my two DCs I have found that even a slight cold could disrupt them for quite some time afterwards - plus you, consciously or unconsciously, change things a bit when they are sick and hence new habits are formed.

It could be teething, which is hugely disruptive for many babies.

It could be a growth spurt.

It could be a reaction to the food - trapped wind or constipation. My DC2 reacts badly to some foods like bananas.

I do feel for you because it's tough to go from a spell of good sleep, which you get used to, then regress. My two are/were both rubbish sleepers consistently from the start (17mo DC2 still waking every 2-3 hours, oh yes) but I kind-of get used to it.

hello i am also going through this myself as DD is 6months and is teething and has a cold and has not been settling well at all at night or even during the day. She used to sleep from 8 til 8 but now she will wake every 2 hours looking cuddles. she used to settle herself as well but now wants held til she goes to sleep.
today has been the first day she has been more content on her own she think she is over the worst of the cold.
hopefully ur little one will be ok and go back to its ways but as someone said they do get spoilt and want the attention.

How long has she been having solids for? Could it be indigestion?
