Hi
Ds is 4 months old and is filled out his Moses basket. His cot is the next place for him to sleep. Help! !! Not put him in there yet to sleep or even nap. I think I have three or four weeks tops before he has to be in there. Any top tips on the transition that will make him happy. So worried as he sleeps like a dream at night well as good as a baby does. He goes to bed at 7:30 and dream feeds at 11 then sleeps till 4 or 5. Any thoughts or ideas grateful received. Thanks in advance.

you could try putting the moses basket in the cot for him to get used to the cot surroundings first. Is there room in your room for the cot? We put the cot along the bottom of our bed so they could stay in our room for at least the first 6 months (as per SIDS guidance)

Don't worry too much, I have 4 kids and with all of them I just moved them and that was it. None had any problems. (And they range from a 8-8 sleeper to up all night still feeding at 12 months!)

We just moved DD from Moses basket to cot, no problems at all! Don't assume there will be issues. We are using a sleep bag/grobag thing, used for the first time when she was in the cot (too long for Moses basket). I think she was waking herself up when her arms touched the sides of the Moses basket, she seems to be sleeping better in cot.

My two slept better when moved into their cots, I think they were somewhere between 4 and 5 months.

My 2 both outgrew their baskets at 6 wks and woke themselves up flapping their arms against the sides. I just moved them to the cot and they slept much better. much comfier.

My DS moved to a cot a couple of weeks ago also at 4 months. He'd had a few nights in a travel cot over Christmas and seemed to like the extra space sleeping with one arm stretched out. I actually felt guilty putting him back in the moses basket when we got home as it seemed cramped so we moved him to the cot.
I put him down for daytime nap first to see how he went and he settled fine so I put him in that night and (so far!) no problems

My DD also slept lots better when she moved from bedside crib (slightly bigger than Moses basket) to cotbed at 4 and a bit months as she likes to turn onto her side sometimes and there wasn't room in the crib. Didn't do any transition or anything, just tried it one night and kept the crib around too for a couple of weeks in case there were any problems but she was fine. We'd also noticed that she seemed to stretch out and roll round when in a travel cot and it made me realise the crib was much too small!
