My ds has just turned 3 and has been out of nappies during the day since September. Wees are fine. He has the occasional accident if he is too engrossed in something but no problems. My probelm is with poos. When he needs to go he always makes it to the potty and that's fine never any accidents. Trouble is this happens about every 3 days. The rest of the time he is clearly having some sensation strains but refuses to go to the toilet and then ends up with little skidmarks in his pants which need to be changed because it does smell. I've tried rewards but that didn't work. I've tried ignoring it but to no avail. Anyone with somolar experience or any advice. I don't think he's constipated I just think he hasn't got the idea of pushing. I'm reluctant to go to the dr as I don't want my ds to think there is something wrong with him.

Any ideas anyone

Sorry can't help. My ds 2.5 and has been toilet trained for wees for a month but still isn't making it to the toilet for poos yet - he is still pooing in his undies. Drives me crazy. He is only doing this about every 3 days though and I also wonder about the days in between. Will be watching this thread for advice.
