My (Almost) 5 year old son, poorly. Any ideas?

Hi to everyone. I am new to mumsnet and this is my very first post, so bare with me.

I just need advice regarding my son.
He woke up this morning, complaining of an extremely sore throat. He's lethargic and both under eyes are swollen.
I've given him Ibroprophen to help if there's any swelling - and, of course, the discomfort.

I took his temp about 10 minutes prior to this post. It was spot on, completely normal.

Any ideas ladies? I've noticed a few sniffles. Could this just be a common cold?

Thank you in advance.

Not sure if its any help but I've woken up the same this morning? Has he got any other symptoms? Have you checked him for a rash?

I have, yes... but nothing. I haven't seen symptoms like this before and when it comes to my son, I am always over-cautious, as you can tell. Grin

A bit of a late response but could it have been an allergic reaction ? Just thinking of the puffiness under eyes and throat. Maybe get some Piriton syrup in just in case it happens again and think about what he ate/had been around prior to it happening. I'm sure if he woke up like it, it's probably just a virus. Hope he's feeling better.
