My daughter is bright and confident, and making friends has never been an issue. But, her best friend (and when I say best friend, I mean they were joined at the hip) moved away at the end of Christmas term, so I was expecting some fallout this new term. It's only happened this week though, and I am surprised at just how bad it is. She doesn't want to go to school at all, and she has always loved school. She cries all the time and says she has no friends (she does, just not 'best' ones). She has had a few knock-backs at playtime from other kids when she's tried to join in, but her teacher assures me she plays with the other kids. She's having a hard time adjusting to being one of one at school, instead of one of two. I know it's a life lesson, but I didn't want her to learn it so soon. Anyone been through the same and have any advice on how to handle it?

Didn't want to read and run. Hugs for you both. Sorry, only small dd so no experience but play dates, invites for tea, and a chat to the teacher...this will bump you anyway xx
