Getting baby weighed

I haven't had my 10 MO weighed for months as all four HV clinics per week in the area have thoughtfully been scheduled from 1-3pm. This is nap time for my DD and I don't want to mess her around just to get her weighed (most other mums I have spoken to have the same problem - a cynical part of me thinks the HVs have done this on purpose so they have nice quiet clinics with just newborns!)

I have a feeling I should probably check how much she weighs so was just posting to see if anyone had had their baby weighed somewhere other than at clinic; I don't know if some pharmacies have scales or anything, or even a big mothercare? Or is that a bit naive?! I have tried weighing her on our scales and even the Wii but don't think it was that accurate!

Would appreciate it if anyone could let me know if you can get babies weighed and bi-pass the clinic.

You could weigh yourself and then weigh you and her and take away your weight. That's what I've done for cats :)

My husband made a hobby out of weighing the children using his hanging digital luggage scales. for as long as they could fit into an infant carrier car seat he used that; now they're a bit bigger he gets them to sit in a laundry basket Hmm

I've been avoiding that scenario due to scary baby weight - have just tried stting DD on scales but it's a bit tricky. May have to face the truth myself though!

Ooh, could try hanging scales, that wouldn't involve me. And she does like sitting in the laundry basket...

Just wait till her 2 year check, they'll weigh her then Wink

I have just had a letter about her '8 month' check Hmm. I'm waiting for them to get back to me with an appointment - not holding out too much hope though!

Do you have a breast-feeding group/clinic at your local leisure centre? We do and there are hvs there and scales where you can weigh your baby. Ours is run ona morning which would be better for you.

If she's happy and eating ok, and growing (outgrowing her clothes etc) then I wouldn't worry about it.
