I am currently studying OU D317 Social Psychology course. Have an 8 week old DS and 2 yr old DD and have been really struggling to get 2nd assignment done. It was due last wednesday, I requested an extension till tomorrow, but have only been able to manage to get 1000 of the 2000 words written. It's now 22.15, I am knackered, will have to feed again in a couple of hours again, and basically my question is: should I plod on with assignment or quit now, hand in what I have done and take a substandard mark on the chin?? Opinions gratefully received ..

you need some motivation girl.
motiation was the last hing that I had when the chap was 8 weeks old..
do you want this course. If so carry on.
what is your assignment about?

busybusybee · 18/04/2006 22:32

Press on - try to write another 500 or so words and hand it in tomorrow

I remember handing in a short and imo substandard assignment and I got a really good mark - Tutor said it was succint and explicit - so there you are!

Good luck

Keep at it! I wrote one TMA in 3 hours after two margaritas once becaude I got the cut-off date wrong. It wasn't my best mark, but it wasn't a disaster. It's amazing what you can get marks for. Write something vaguely relevant. DO NOT QUIT!!

Oh Scotsbird! I've done a few very late nights/early mornings working on assignments; there is nothing worse.

What is the hand in time tomorrow?

ScotsBird · 18/04/2006 23:26

Thanks for responses guys ... I am seriously lacking in motivation, chapsmum, particularly about this topic - critical evaluation of unconscious motives in determining human behaviour. Who cares???!!!! I am comforting myself with the thought that I can substitute the mark for this assignment, and that at least I won;t get 0% for it. I am going to try and write another few hundred words ... thanks to you all for motivational speeches!

Thanks kama, you are absolutely right - as it happens I do actually care about unconscious motives in determining behaviour and am really pretty interested in the subject but you know how it is when you reach the stage I was at last night ...

I have rationalised that in every other year of my OU studies (this is my final year) I would simply have handed no assignment in and substituted the entire thing. So I am actually doing better than in previous years by even handing some work in ... Every cloud and all that!

Am going to be more organised in future...
A.
