Best sling for a 3 month old

My baby is coming up to 3 months and I need a new sling/carrier. I have had the Moby which has been ok but too much faff to do up out and about and also DH too scared to wear it because it seems complicated. I have read other threads and think Caboo, Beco and Manduca look good. What do you think? I am strong and tall and my baby is long and thin!

A Beco or Manduca will last you into toddlerhood whereas babies generally get too heavy for a Caboo (which is basically like a pre-tied stretchy wrap) from 6-9m onwards.

I switched from Moby to Manduca at 14w and would highly recommend! (At that point LO was big enough to go legs out and we never used insert.)

I would recommend an Ergo - particularly because you can switch to back-carrying when they get too big for your front.

If you ate tall then possibly not an Ergo. You need to get to a slingmeet and try some soft structured carriers.

Not a Caboo - DS1 grew out of his by 5/6 months and it's not as good as a mei tei style IME - for a start you can't use it on your back.

We've had good use from our Connecta for DS1 and 3 m.o. DS2 loves it. We've also got an Ergo which is good (higher upper weight limit than Connecta) and I liked a Manduca when I tried it (max weight limit is less than the Ergo though, I think).

I'm tall and DS1 was 99th centile height, and he had outgrown the Ergo before 18 months and we had to get a toddler carrier, as it no longer came up to his armpits.

A slingmeet is a good idea, and some areas have sling libraries where you can borrow slings.

I like ring slings and have used them for years - can be used from birth, takes only seconds to put on, very easy to pop children in and out, highly adjustable, good for hip or back carry, folds up neatly into handbag, doubles up as blanket or picnic mat etc. and can be useful right into toddlerhood.

Agree that a sling meet is a good idea - different slings suit different people.
