Is it normal?

I have a 10 week old baby girl who still cries uncontrollably when being changed; is this normal? She doesn't just whinge she cries as if her world is ending and it takes some time to pacify her... It breaks my heart to hear it. Is there anything I can do to make change times any easier?

I have tried singing, music, distracting her, dummy... Everything! Sometimes she even goes puce & makes horrible gagging sounds she is crying so hard. It's really horrible to hear & of course draining...

& no nappy rash, wondered if she could be hurting somewhere else? Otherwise she's a perfectly content baby. She's the same with baths... Hates being naked I think?

Their little ways are often a mystery to us big 'uns, aren't they?
Is the changing mat cold plastic? Try putting a muslin/towel over it so her little bum doesn't get such a shock?
Other than that, if she's a happy girl the rest of the time I think its just one of those things...

Don't worry - she'll get used to it - our dd was like this - we used to change her together in the night as she would HOWL - now she LOVES her nappy being changed....

preggersshock · 05/01/2013 23:24

Yep, have a muslin down on the mat... Hopefully one of those thing & hopefully will eventually pass! Suffering with paranoia tough, maybe it's me, maybe doing something wrong - have to remind myself changing a nappy is not rocket science, how wrong can I be getting it?
