I am a regular at a small play gym. Today amongst the people i saw two mothers with about 4 children between them. One of the girls reported to her mum that one of the boys had done something naughty, not sure what. What came next i thought was awfull. The boy (aged about 3 or 4) was frog marched by his mum into a toilet and told to stay there. She slammed shut the door and would not let him out. Everytime he tried to open the door, she slammed it shut again and told him he was in time out. The poor thing was wailing and screaming for what seemed like a good 5 - 10 minutes. Someone said "oh is someone stuck in the toilet" and she just said that her boy was there for time out, not a flicker of questioning it. A couple of people i was with and myself were really shocked. I cannot believe how awfull this was. What do you think. They left not long afterwards.

I'd like to think I would have heroically stepped in and intervened in this one. Did it occur to you to call the manager?

sounds lucky that no fingers were lost with all that slamming.

I think you can do time out in a public place but it needs to be done calmly and fairly and not in the loo and with no door slamming! Madness.
