Car seat group question...

Sorry boring question but Ds2 is 4.1 he weighs 14.8kg (terrible eater) we have him in a group 1 maxi cosi car seat for toddler 9-18kg up to 3.5yrs, he sits quite comfortably in it, he's just under 1m tall. So weight wise can he stay in this seat or should we just move him up now to group 2/3 which is from 15kg? I've tried him in his brothers group 2/3 seat and he looks tiny in it but that's maybe because ds1 is older & bigger!
Not sure if we should order the new car seat now or wait a couple more months when he's (fx) over 15kg but concerned he is over te 3.5 age limit!
Thanks

I am no expert. I'm sure one will be along soon but I believe that if the child is below the weight and height maximums they are always safer in the lower group seat I.e. group 1 rather than group 2/3.

The age is a rough guide, go by weight and height.

Also, my DD who is tall a must have hollow legs because she eats so much was still safe in her Group 1 seat at 4.1. Think I got till 4.5 and she's really tall.

As already said, you must go by weight and height. Ages are only for guidance and it would be better if they didn't put them on seats at all.

Great thanks all makes sense I'll go by weight then! true nocake would be less confusion if I hadn't read the age!

Always safer in the lower group if within weight/height limits. Each move up is a compromise in safety.

As already said, there's a good guide to buying car sears and general info on the Which? website.
