IPhone app for checking on my babysitter?

I downloaded a iPhone monitor app (baby monitor plus) for alerting in case baby wakes up (nice app that sends me an SMS when the baby is awaken) and I actually use it when the babysitter is with the baby, I leave my iPhone a hidden spot in the room and after I get an SMS alert, I wait a few minutes, and then call her to check up on little one...Is this OK?

What's the point of having a baby sitter if you don't trust them?

vesti23 · 30/12/2012 14:47

It's not because i don't trust the person its just a little extra precaution

No its not, firstly if you don't trust someone to look after your baby then they shouldn't be there, secondly if she is dealing with the baby then why would you call and distract her from that. I would be very pissed off to be getting spied on like that.

No it isn't okay.

You are leaving your child with someone you don't trust. Why would you do that?

And if the baby is crying surely she will be too busy to answer the phone or is you being able to talk to the sitter better than the sitter comforting the baby?

Tee2072Thing · 30/12/2012 14:51

So you want to know if it's okay to spy on your babysitter? If you need to spy on her, why is she your babysitter?

No. It's not okay. At all.

Although I'm interested in the tech. If the iPhone is in your baby's room, what do you receive the SMS on?

To my husband phone...

Yeah, I just looked up the app, apparently it can call any number.

Still not a cool thing to do to your babysitter.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/12/2012 14:57

What's the point? Either you trust the baby sitter or you don't. What can you possibly do if you see her giving DC brandy to help her sleep? You are not there. You can't change anything.

JustFabulous · 30/12/2012 14:57

She'll soon twig that you are spying on her and will quit anyway.

Iggly · 30/12/2012 14:58

Precaution against what?

It comes down to trust. No matter how you dress it up, that's how it boils down.

No it's not right.

How would you feel if your DH did something like that to you without your knowledge? As an "extra precaution".

Jesus, as a veteran babysitter I would have been extremely pissed off if someone did this to me.
