To make themselves feel better about that rubbish life?

Because they've had a bad day

Because somebody has said something that had upset, annoyed them

Because they want to hurt the person

Why are people mean to each other?

Why isn't life all hugs and puppies?

Meh.

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2012 14:25

Sometimes meanness is actually honesty.

Yes, and been referred to another thread too usual. Confused

MrsJREwing · 27/12/2012 14:52

OP, many reasons one because they like to put others down to feel good about themselves, same goes for Men, Women use more covert meaness, Men in my experience are more open about picking on one another.

scottishmummy · 27/12/2012 15:44

I see the ole gender stereotypes aplenty on this thread
people are mean,some are not
and mn threads in no wy representative of rl.on mn people take peculiar stances

Why are women people mean to each other?

There. I fixed your question for you, OP.

gloucestergirl · 28/12/2012 21:38

I too hate meaness and would like to live in a little bubble where everyone is nice and well-mannered to each other. But as that is totally unrealistic I just ignore rude people where ever possible.

I don't know about grown women being mean to each other. Apart from in the Daily Mail and then I'm guessing that being opininated and mercenary are the reasons. But my god can teenage girls be nasty, which I guess is due to establishing a peaking order. Maybe some women never grow out of this.

Actually mn is very nice and supportive mostly. Although I only hop in and out and go to the 'advice wanted' sections rather than chat or AIBU. If you want to see real nastiness go to an expat forum than is populated by usually very bitter men. There can be proper ding-dongs with eye-watering rudeness.
