I'm sure it's been asked before, but how did you survive the terrible twos?

DS is just over 2. He's a great little boy, hilariously funny, very chatty, fairly confident, and gentle. He's become a bit more boisterous of late, but still (mostly) understands when to tone it down.

But these last few weeks have become quite challenging. I feel I'm always telling him off for something, he throws regular tantrums, and is just generally being a two year old. I also have a 6 month DD who has been teething a lot and is clingy as a result, so I am sure this doesn't help the tantrums as he probably feels left out, as much as I try to make sure he isn't. But I don't always get it right! I'm only human!

I know that what he is doing is completely normal, and considering how good he was when his sister arrived and the circumstances at the time, it's only fair he has his "moments", but does anyone have any tips for survival?!

I try to keep him busy and entertained, but that's not quite so easy with DD hanging off me and it peeing down with rain outside!

Thanks in advance.

How about trying to make a game that's tiring? Maybe find something that needs to be taken upstairs e.g. Clean washing, toys. He can only take one item at a time (or you could do something like all one colour items at a time) he has to go upstairs fast but downstairs slowly (so as not to be dangerous). Time him. Give him a reward after and lots of praise as he does it. You may need to position yourself at the bottom of the stairs but hopefully it might tire him a little. You can modify with other things but washing works well as its not breakable!
