Kandoo - do they block the drains?

I mean is it categorically DON'T USE THEM? or do different people have different experiences.

with my potty training saga (only day 3 i know) i was wondering if letting her use these would help - she hates loo roll, have been using wipes and binning them (yuk).....

The man who came to unblock our drains (not kandoo related!) said he rubbed his hands together in glee when he saw they had come out as he was anticipating lots of blocked loos. He also mentioned those disposable / flushable loo brushes. Not had any experience of it myself though!

kandoo can and do block drains.
We had to have the plumber out and he said straight away 'baby wipes!'

Passionflower · 12/04/2006 21:18

Have been using them since they came out with no probs. I think it depends on your drains.

HonorMatopoeia,
We had a plumber say exactly the same to us about the Kandoo/disposable loo brushes.
Also had a "drain man" who said that clothes washing liquids, went all lumpy in drains and caused blockages especially,in older houses with narrower bores of pipework,in their drains

Pixiefish · 12/04/2006 21:36

Unless its a fairly modern house with modern plumbing then I'd be very wary. also the make up remover wipes are renowned for blocking drains

dinny · 12/04/2006 21:41

dh manages loads of properties and his plumber is doing 3 times more unblocking loos since they came on the market, he says.

My dp is a drainage engineer....

His answer is Kandoo have certainly sent his work booming Grin

MrsStrutsHerStuff · 12/04/2006 21:49

dp is a plumber and hasn't had to unbock anyone drain for kandoo wipes yet! we have used them with ds and now dd uses them too but only for poos, we use toilet roll for peesGrin

hulababy · 12/04/2006 21:52

Normal baby wipes can and do. I was under the impression that Kandoo and other moist toilet wipes (for adults) don't generally.

IL is a building surveyer and has recently been working near a nursery. They have had big drainage problems and the cause has been disposable liners from reusable nappies. Nightmare he says and cause a lot of moneys worth of damage. They were considering giving the nursery the bill for the damage.

NannyL · 12/04/2006 22:19

yes they do

Which magazine reported on loo roll back in the winter its official that it does NOT break down in the same way as loo roll and so does cause blockages...

if it hasnt to you yet, just wait, it will

that very week at musicmet a mum who had been waiting for plumber.... loo blocked by Kandoos she was saying that the plumber was saying about how many kandoo call outs he has and how much buisness kandoo wipes geenrtae for plumbers...

that VERY same week the sess pit where i work blosked (by kandoos)

Now we have the kandoos in the cupboard next to nappy sacs, rather than out next to loo roll....

if they are necesssary they are put in nappy sacs and then binned.
