My DD is 7 months old and has only had the lightest sprinkling of hair since birth! When oh when will it finally grow?!?! What has everyone else's experience been?

DS didn't get any hair until he was about 2.5 bless him!

Oreocrumbs · 17/12/2012 18:02

DD had very little hair untill she was around 9/10 months. At 1 yr she had a pixie cut type of amount (if that makes any sense). It came in well after that, at 2.5 she now has a good thick head of hair, it's quite long now too.

There were a few babies around my DD's age who were bald untill over 1, and then it came in quite fast.

Over 2 for all 3 of mine!

Not that you'd ever guess - loads of hair all round now :)

My girls were 2.5yrs-3yrs ish before they could wear pigtails as they had such little hair! I love bald babies though and easier for hair washing! People did sometimes assume they were boys though! But once they were 4-5 their hair was all of a sudden thick and down their backs!

MsGee · 17/12/2012 18:48

My DD is 4.5 as she still has very fine hair. She has had three haircuts in her life, necessary only because it's so fine it grows in wisps.

It barely grew at all till she was 3.5.

ConstantCraving · 17/12/2012 20:58

DD is 3 and I still can't scrape her hair into a ponytail. I can just about slide a clip into it - and then it'll fall out!

ScreamIfYouStillBelieveInSanta · 18/12/2012 12:00

Thanks for your replies. I guess I'd better settle in for a long wait then! At least I know now, I'd previously thought she'd have some hair by 1 at least! Clearly that's not the case. I'll just have to try to enjoy not having to do anything with her hair! Grin

Age 2, sorry Smile

MaryChalloner · 18/12/2012 12:02

my dds had wispy bobs for years -sorry. I don't think they even had short hair until they were older than 2.

My dd4 is also 7 months old and her head has outgrown the little hair she has!

SantasNaughtySack · 18/12/2012 12:11

DD didn't have noticeable hair until she was about 18 months old. At 2.1, she's now got a bob of ringlets, but still not a huge amount of the top front Grin
People finally realise she's a girl now though

JugsMcGee · 18/12/2012 19:43

Only just now at 21m!

Chinateacup · 18/12/2012 23:30

About 1. And it's really fine and looks like a mullet but can't see that it would look any better with a wee trim

Chinateacup · 18/12/2012 23:31

Half my post disappeared including my hopes for a transformation from poker straight into beautiful ringlets (fat chance!) Hmm

dabdab · 18/12/2012 23:36

I have 3 dc, and 2 have fine blond hair. Those 2 didn't really develop hair until about 3 - sorry! It does look better after a trim, even if there isn't very much.

Morph2 · 19/12/2012 21:26

looking back at photos DS didn't really have alot of hair at age 1, it was nearer two when it started thickening up and growing. He has really blond hair, don't know if its true but hairdresser said its usually kids with darker hair that are born with lots of hair and the blondies tend to be bald and get their hair later.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 19/12/2012 21:35

DD's head was covered by fine blonde fuzz at 2. She had proper hair at 3.5 and it was long enough for a plait at 4.10.

I was desperate for her to have some hair, she was always being mistaken for a boy. But she has beautiful hair now, and we avoided tangled hair tantrums for all those years so there were some plus points.

Beautiful hats are your friends Xmas Smile

Snowflakepie · 20/12/2012 10:48

Next to nothing on her 2nd birthday, beautiful full bob just before her 3rd! Don't fret, I think it's much easier on a little one to keep clean and tidy if there's nothing there lol!

ScreamIfYouStillBelieveInSanta · 20/12/2012 13:32

Thanks for all the responses! I won't be buying DD any hair clips for Xmas then, not this year or next year it sounds like!
