Bathe or not to bathe!!

First time poster so bear with me!

I have a 2 week old ds and am unsure of when to bathe him. The books say to do it when he is awake but he sleeps between feeds and only seems to be awake when he is feeding or suffering from colic/wind! Do I wake him up or do it after he has had a feed. Am topping and tailing at the moment but think it is time to introduce him to water!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated as am a first time mum and to be honest am struggling to get to grips with the mysteries of looking after a newborn!! Will get there though!

Congratulations Xmas Smile

We started with regular baths when DS was somewhere between 4-6 weeks. They don't get all that dirty to start with (depending on how explosive the poos are).

We did top & tail him before that though!

Once every three or four weeks is fine when they're this little - tops and tails aside.

I used to have a bath with DS and breastfeed him at the same time. Did this once a week.

I have taken DS into the bath with me right from birth. He loves it and would often go to sleep floating in the water when he was a newborn.
