Hi all. Been advised to try this forum by a poster on Special Needs, so Hi everyone! waves

My daughter has a few rare medical conditions, including some pretty tricky Epilepsy that means she does get rushed to hospital from time to time. So far we've not dared go overseas with her but she's been relatively stable recently so we thought we'd best travel while we can. I've written up her medical history - can never get any sensible treatment from the doctors till they know the full story - and would like to get it translated into French to take away with us, just in case.

Has anyone got any suggestions how this could be done? I've seen some professional translation agencies on the web, but they're pretty expensive and we'd have to have the thing redone every time she got a new diagnoss - which seems constant at the moment! Or there are web sites for matching you with an individual translator, which are cheaper but how can you be sure they know enough to get the terms correct? It's pretty essential! Anybody got any other alternatives? I think what I really need is a bilingual medical student - if anyone knows one ;)

There are a lot of French Mumsnetters on here who I'm sure would help.
Have you tried contacting the Med Depts of the major Universities?

I have a friend who worked as a bilingual medical research secretary - she is French. She did some translation work for me and it was very well done. Would you like me to ask her? How much is there?

Rhubarb - you never answer your phone. If I was paranoid, I would say that you were screening me!Wink
