What are your 2yr-ish wearing to bed?

I think my DD might be a bit cold. Her feet were a bit chilly and the rest of her wasn't exactly warm when I got her up this morning. She is dressed in a long- shelved vest, pjs and 2.5tog sleeping bag. I think the temperature in the house went down to 17 degrees last night so doesn't seem too ridicoulsly cold to me.

Any ideas? I can't remember dressing her in anything more last year so I am a bit at a loss.

She is also waking up at 5.30am despite not having a huge nap.

Socks will make a difference, and consider a blanket/extra cover over her sleeping bag.

She might be too cold, my ds1 dressed in the same and was an early waker. When we got him PJ's and a quilt he slept later so I think he was cold. Mind you we live in Scotland!
Ds2 is 20 months and has a quilt and PJ's for bed, and keeps on his vest if it is very cold.

DS is just turned 3 and is wearing vest and underpants then a fleecy sleepsuit on top.

He also gets covered with his blanket and then a quilt on top.

pants vest, onsie, fleece blanket, then, duvet.

its horrid when you know they are cold.

We have a v cold house, Ds's room just stays about 16c since we put a non-oil filled radiator on a timer for 20mins per hour between the main heating going off and coming back on again (thanks mumsnet!). We're getting better sleep now in the very coldest weather when we dress him in long sleeve pyjamas, long sleeve vest, socks, 2.5 tog sleeping bag plus a cotton cardigan/track suit top. We did try an extra blanket before adding the cardigan but he moves too much. Poor old soul. But I'm hunkered down under my 10+ tog duvet with socks, long pj bottoms & tshirt so don't think it's so different.

My DD is nearly 2.5yrs and she is wearing flannel pjs with a vest underneath and those warm slipper socks you get that have the non-slip grip, we call them bed socks. She is in a bed now and has a 4tog duvet. She sleeps well but her hands are always cold, the house is around 16-18°C overnight.

My 18 month old has sleeveless vest, pyjamas, sleeping bag.

In my experience, it makes a fair bit of difference to warmth if their sleeves and trousers are a bit too long, if you put them in pyjamas that are slightly too big then it will cover their hands and keep them a bit warmer.

Vest and sometimes pj bottoms with a 2.5 tog bag. he wakes in the night with more than this. He would melt with full pjs on and socks!

Don't mean to sound horrible but DC hands should not be cold. If they are there not wearing enough clothes.
I live in a really cold house so i know how hard it is, i would say the temp in our bedrooms drops to about 8 at night.
The best way to keep them warm is lots of layers.
Vest, long sleeved cotton top, pj bottoms, socks, cotton cardigan.
Ive got loads of cheap fleece blankets. I put one over the bottom sheet, then a big quilt, then another 2 fleece blankets on top. I also throw an old fluffy dressing gown on top in this weather. Wrapped up like that my DD sleeps till 9-10 and always feels warm when she wakes up.
And my baby sleeps in vest, cotton top, cashmere cardy, tights/trousers cashmere blanket, quilt, fleece blanket and a throw on top.
Maybe im a bit over the top but i cant stand being cold!

Bellarose I agree, but her hands are always cold, no matter what she is wearing, she is just like me. The rest of her is toasty and warm and she'll moan she is too hot if I dress her in more but her hands are still cold.

Yeah my mum is like that always cold!
A midwife told me once to only worry about temp on there chest and back.

I have no idea what temp our house gets down to at night, but my nearly 3 year old wears socks, vest, fleecey PJs with a summer weight duvet on top and then a fleece blanket....I remember when she was younger she would sometimes wake early of I didn't put enough layers on her!!!!

Wish my house was as warm as that overnight! I live in an ancient house with rubbish insulation and heating in the north of Scotland. I heat the bedrooms in the evening then switch off the heaters before I go to bed (they're electric and cost a fortune to run). The ambient temperature probably goes down to about 8 or 9 degrees in the middle of the night.
My DS (3) wears a vest, t-shirt, socks and pyjamas to bed. He has a quilt with a fleece blanket over the top. We also co-sleep to having 2 warm bodies in the bed helps to keep us cosy. I grew up in a freezing house and was never cold at night even though I could sometimes see my breath! (luckily our house isn't quite as bad as that).

Thanks guys, quite a mixed bag of clothing but I think I'll start with buying some thicker fleecey pjs on the weekend. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also I think I'll put some thick socks on her tonight.

I do agree that a duvet would be much better but I don't think now is my best time to try it as she moves a lot in the night. My plan was to try with a blanket/duvet next spring/summer when if she looses it then it won't matter so much.

(littleorangetree - I bet your old house is beautiful though and you can pride yourself on bring up hardy children. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold! My DH grew up in an old cold house and has no idea what i am complaining about!).

Dd1, 2.10, is in vest, pjs and duvet. Dd2 , 19 months, in vest, pjs, grobag and blanket.

We don't have the heating on overnight but live in a modern house. Ds wears PJs and has a winter tog duvet on his cot bed. I disagree that if a child's hands are cold then they're not wearing enough clothes. The advice is to touch their back or tummy to get an accurate gauge of how warm or cold they are. A child that is too hot can be as bad as a child that is too cold.

DD1 loves those fleecy sleepsuits with inbuilt feet - she often goes under the duvet too.

DD2 wears pjs and a grobag.

Primark have lots of fleecy sleep suits in at the moment, mostly with built in feet and only £5
